Southview Family Update
June 27, 2024
Principal's Message
Dear Southview Famillies,
Thank you!
What a great year it has been. It is hard to believe that another year has come to an end at Southview. Today we celebrated the end of the year with all our students at an assembly in the gym, and were reminded of all the special events that happened this year. We also had a chance to say goodbye and thank you to departing staff and students, particularly our grade 8 graduates, who have been such great leaders and role models for younger students.
We hope that everyone has a safe and happy summer break. The office will be back open the week of August 26-30, from 8:30 - 4:00 for inquiries and other business. Tuesday, September 3 is a PA Day, so the first day for all students is Wednesday, September 4. We look forward to welcoming you back then!
Sincerely,
Greg Seiveright (Principal), Jen Cole (VP), and the Southview Team

2024-25 Staff List
A note to School Council...
Dear Southview Families,
The staff and students of Southview Public School would like to extend our sincere appreciation to our wonderful parent council.
Thanks to the many contributions of dedicated Southview parents, we have been able to gather together for fun and informative family events (i.e., Southview Carnival and Strawberry Event). Our teachers have been very fortunate to receive funds from our parent council to enhance daily learning opportunities, offset the cost of field trips, provide sports equipment at recess, and to purchase special materials, supplies and resources for our classrooms from teacher wish lists. Funds from our parent council also provided staff and students with special school events like the French Carnivale and the Grade 8 graduation to bring us together to have fun and to celebrate our special Grade 8 graduates. This year, our parent council generously contributed funds for each graduate to have their own Book of Awesome as a special keepsake of their Southview friends and their Grade 8 year. We could not forget to mention the, much appreciated, free milkshake day that helped to cool staff and students down at the end of the school year!
Over the course of the year, we have been very fortunate to have many dedicated parents come together at parent council meetings to help make our school a fun and exciting place for staff, students and their families. To each and every member of our amazing parent council, we say thank you for all that you do to make Southview a wonderful place to be!
Sincerely,
The Staff and Students of Southview Public School

Reporting Absences
Reporting Lates: New for the 2023-2024 school year, parents/caregivers are able to report late arrivals using the new Late Arrival option, including the expected arrival time to school. When a student arrives, they are expected to sign in at office and staff make the amendment in our student information system. When a student leaves early, again they are expected to sign out (with parental permission) and again the amendment is made in our system. This method allows us to best track student attendance to ensure safety.
