SMHS Graduate Creates Art in Somerville
Sabrina Gonzalez, a SMHS graduate, was commissioned to create an 8 ft by 10 ft painting on wooden panels for Bow Market in Somerville and it was finally assembled and hung up this past week. There will be a reception for it this Saturday 12:30pm-3pm.
It all started with a call for art that Bow Market advertised, and Sabrina submitted a sketch based on the theme they had chosen. She worked with the owners of Bow Market until they finalized the design and then she got to work painting the panels for the final display.
This is the link to a page they dedicated to Sabrina:

PEER LEADERS ATTEND BARNSTABLE HUMAN RIGHTS ACADEMY
Nine SMHS Peer Leaders recently attended the Barnstable County Human Rights Academy, joining students from schools across the Cape to explore student well-being and the creation of healthy school environments. Throughout the event, students worked in mixed-school teams to brainstorm ideas and develop strategies for promoting overall wellness—mental, emotional, and physical—and fostering inclusivity. Afterward, they returned to their individual school groups to refine their ideas and plan actionable initiatives. We are proud of the SMHS students who volunteered their time and energy to collaborate with their peers, and we look forward to seeing how their work will positively impact our school community.
Our SMHS representatives included Luke Burgess, Noe Downing, Azriel Gallegos, Avery Lachance, Marion Lantery, Ava Medeiros, Peter Milburn, Charmaine Russell, and Klay Warriner.
COOL SCIENCE IN ACTION:
GRADE 8 GETS FROSTY WITH DRY ICE EXPERIMENTS!
Grade 8 science students had an exciting day in the laboratories on Friday where they experimented with dry ice and discovered the wonders of chemistry firsthand! These hands-on, interactive experiences bring learning to life, making science both fun and unforgettable! Thanks to grade 8 science teachers, Ms. Ferreira and Mr. McCracken, for designing activities that spark curiosity and create memories that stay with students long after the lesson ends!
