Weekly Community Updates - March 14, 2025
Dear Students and Families,
Oceana students had a great time participating in the rally today! I always enjoy the students cheering for the class reps during rally games and dances.
As shared last week, March is a busy month! On Wednesday March 19th, seniors have a mandatory senior exhibition presentation practice to prepare for Senior Exhibition Day which will happen on Friday March 28th.
Also, on March 19th, you can go to the district office to see some of our student's art displayed! Information is below. Lastly, we start Interim Week on Monday March 31st!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Take care,
Maritza Torres

Ramadan
On behalf of schools with students fasting for Ramadan, the California Department of Education (CDE) has approved Jefferson Union High School District for a Ramadan Meal Waiver. This waiver allows schools to send a breakfast and a lunch home with students, in attendance, that are fasting. Non-fasting students will receive school breakfast and lunch, as usual, that are to be consumed at school.
Students who are fasting during Ramadan will have the option to receive a take home lunch for the day of service, and a breakfast for the following day beginning Friday, February 28-Friday until April 4, 2025. Please visit the school cafeteria during normal hours and request a takeaway lunch and breakfast.
Each meal is served according to state and federal school breakfast/lunch requirements.

Graduation Stoles
Last school year, Academic Council approved for graduates to wear one stole to the graduation ceremony. Academic Council wanted students to have a choice of representing a part of their identity, if they wish to do so. This will be the first year we are trying to give choices to students. We worked with Heff Jones to give options to students to choose from, graduating seniors can fill out this google form and choose a stole to wear at graduation. If seniors do not choose by March 21st, they will be ordered a standard red Oceana stole. Heff Jones will collect the orders, Oceana will pay for the stoles and the stoles will be given out during graduation practice.
Only seniors should order stoles for the 2025 Graduation. Graduation will be Thursday May 29th at 6pm in the gym.
