Mrs. Fortney

I’m Kelly Fortney and I am a school counselor with the Lincoln Intermediate Unit. I’m thrilled to be a part of your child’s school! I reside in Waynesboro with my husband and two boys, Tyler & Aaron. We love spending time outdoors together! My passion is to help kids develop lifelong strategies so that they can be their best selves in and outside of school!

My assignments for this year include:

Mondays & Wednesday @ St. Andrew Catholic School

Tuesdays & Fridays @ Corpus Christi Catholic School

Thursdays @ Montessori Academy of Chambersburg

School Counseling Services

Classroom Lessons - monthly lessons centered around themes like kindness, study skills, respect, college and career readiness, etc.
Small Group Sessions - small number of students sharing similar issues that may be impeding academic success.
Individual Counseling - working individually with a student to define issues, set goals and create an action plan.

*Small groups and individual sessions are referral-based and you will be notified/asked for permission if your child is recommended for services.

September's Classroom Lesson Theme

Meet the Counselor:

For the month of September, I will be visiting classrooms to introduce school counseling to the students. We'll discuss ways to see the counselor, explain what a school counselor does, and review the different topics we will learn about as the year goes on. For our older middle school students, we will be focusing on study skills and goal setting for the year!

Resource for Parents: The Power of Positivity

One of my goal's this year as your child's counselor is to help them discover the power of positivity. At the start of each classroom lesson, we will be reciting positive affirmations (listed below) to remind students of their amazing qualities. Feel free to say these at home too!

I am CAPABLE
