Ben’s Bulletin: Weekly Insights & Updates
Happy Weekend Wildcats!
I hope you are enjoying your weekend! My Baylor Bears let me down today, but at least it's beautiful weather and we're headed up tomorrow to go see the fall leaves!
Thank you for all of your work these past two weeks with parent teacher conferences. Thank you for taking the time to reach out to families and invite them to conferences, as I know this contributed to many families making the choice to come. You did a fantastic job of talking with parents and students and I heard from many parents how appreciative they were of the time on both nights. Speaking of conferences, we'd like to get your feedback! There is a Google form at the bottom of the Wildcat Weekly that I'd like you to fill out.
I look forward to seeing you at our staff meeting this coming Tuesday afternoon in the library at 3:00 pm. Please take a moment to recognize your peers by submitting a WILDCAT WONDER NOMINATION USING THIS FORM. We will present these at our staff meeting on Tuesday.
I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend! I'm out of the building on Thursday for a principal meeting and then again on Friday.
- Ben

PRIDE Focus for the Week
The first thing that everyone should do in Wildcat this week is to allow their students to select their Quarter 1 PBIS activity. Spots will fill up and we'd love for kids to at least have a shot at their first choice! A script and updated eligibility list will be ready for team meetings this week.
Check back on this document for the PRIDE focus for this week. DOCUMENT

WICOR – Writing
“The leaves are changing; I feel poetry in the air.” — Laura Jaworski
Visual Prompt Quick Write (Fall/Leaves)
Provide one of the following prompts to give students something to write about and then allow a sufficient amount of thinking/writing time, between 3-6 minutes. Use a timer and give one reminder before students should finish writing.
What do you see?
What do you think when you see this?
What wonderings do you have about this image?
How would you describe what you see to others?
What is happening? How do you know?
How does this connect to your own experiences?
What would change if ___________?
Prove a follow-up activity for students and have them share with a peer prior to sharing with the whole group. Expect students to read their writing as opposed to paraphrasing their thinking.
Read Article
Choose one article for students to read and have them interact with the text. For example: Underline important phrases, write questions in the margins, or add comments to identify key concepts.
Learning Log
Have students complete 1 of the learning logs about the article.
Team Meeting Notes
All other team meeting notes are old news ;)
NO TEAM MEETINGS ON TUESDAY THIS WEEK DUE TO OUR STAFF MEETING.
