From Nurse Julie's Office:
Students of the Month!
Each month SFE recognizes students who have gone above and beyond to show their 3Rs: Respectful, Responsible and Ready to Learn! Students are nominated by their classroom and/or special subject teachers. Congratulations to our April Student of the Month recipients!
Teacher of the Month
Teachers are nominated by students, who were extremely thoughtful about their nominations! Congratulations to Ms. Bertholic, our March Teacher of the Month!
Spring Scholastic Book Fair!
The Spring book fair is scheduled for March 31st-April 4th! Students will visit the book fair next week during library class. The online book fair runs through April 10th. Please click here for the book fair link.
Grade Level Highlights!
Choose Love: Social Emotional Learning Curriculum
Students continue to participate in a weekly lesson rooted in one of the four Units: Courage, Gratitude, Forgiveness and Compassion in Action; all part of the Choose Love Formula. This month is a focus on personal growth through hope and forgiveness!
A copy of the Choose Love calendar was sent home to all families. We hope the calendar is a daily reminder of the small steps we can take daily to Choose Love at home!
Multiage Hockey Connection!
This month in the multiage classroom, the students had the chance to learn about the game of hockey. While watching a Women's National Championship game, they worked on their math skills and extending their vocabulary. The class discussed skating and whether they have tried to skate on ice which we used to create a graph. The students continued to ask questions about the team and their success even after having the weekend off. A few days later, the class had a chance to meet one of the players. She came in with all of the items she received at the Championship, including her gold medal. She shared a slide show with the children and allowed them to hold the medal. The kids had many questions for her and celebrated her team's success.
Grade 2: March Roundup!
Grade 2 was busy in March! Students have been hard at work learning about the properties of solids and liquids in science, participating in math centers, and Ms. Schuyler's room had some guest readers!
Grade 3 Fractions!
In 3rd grade, students are learning about fractions! We deepen our understanding by relating fractions to something we love, and that is PIZZA! Students created fraction pizzas and their very own Pizzeria! We will continue to focus on understanding them as parts of a whole, comparing fractions, and recognizing equivalent fractions.
Grade 4: Pascoag Utility Presentations
Clear River Electric and Water Presentation
Grade 4 students learned about this Public Utility Company and some renewable and nonrenewable sources of energy. This was a great way to wrap up our science unit on energy. We played energy Jeopardy and made some posters encouraging people to conserve energy!
Grade 5: Living Wax Museum
Connected to the ELA module on the arts, each SFE 5th grader did research on an assigned artist, created a poster board presentation, and gave a mini oral narrative to visitors while dressed in character. We were all blown away by how well students did!
Events & Happenings!
PTA's March Madness Fundraiser!
Kudos to our PTA for a very fun and successful event! The BHS gym was packed for the 5th grade students vs. faculty basketball game, competitions events, and parent game! Thanks to all who played and attended. Go Broncos!

Spirit Days! St. Patrick's Day & Socks Up for World Down Syndrome Day
Earth Dome Special Assembly
What a great assembly! The Earth Dome is a gigantic inflatable earth balloon standing 19-feet high and 22-feet in diameter. Students enjoyed a presentation both outside and inside the balloon. They were able to see and better understand the scale of concepts such as continents, time zones, latitude, longitude, and more! Even major cities were also recognized in comparison to the total earth.
*Special thanks to our PTA for sponsoring this event!
