VOLLEYBALL UPDATES
BHS Volleyball - Feeding Fannin
So good to see our Lady Warrior volleyball players giving back to the community. Many of our girls took time off of school and practice to pitch in and contribute to a great cause.
In the final tune-up for district play, our varsity girls swept Qunlan 3-0 on 9/24. Unfortunately we have struggled in our newly aligned 4A district which is comprised of some very good and competitive volleyball teams. This week we will start the 2nd round of district competition and hope for better results as we continue to work hard every day and move forward.
2024 LADY WARRIOR VOLLEYBALL TEAM
Jr. High Lady Indians Volleyball
Our Jr. High volleyball teams are having an outstanding season. Highlights include:
*Back-to-back sweeps to start the season against Bells and Ector/TCA.
*Perfect 3-0 records for both 7th and 8th grades at the Blue Ridge tournament.
*An almost perfect night at Bells on 9/30. (wins by 7B-7A-8A; 8B tied)
At the time of this publication, our Lady Indians have 2 games remaining on their schedule. These Jr. High teams have had a very successful season and the future looks promising for this program.
7TH GRADE ATHLETICS 24-25
8TH GRADE ATHLETICS 24-25
BHS CROSS COUNTRY - REGIONAL QUALIFIERS
Congratulations to Hunter Horton for winning the District 14AAAA Runner-up title. He will be advancing to the regional meet for the 3rd time in his career (missed last year due to injury). His current personal record of 16:25 is the best mark by a BHS runner in almost a decade, possibly longer. He looks to qualify for the state meet before his high school career comes to a close. Hunter plans to run in college and is currently being recruited by several schools including Dallas Baptist University and Southwestern University in Georgetown.
Judith Manzanares is our lone Lady Warrior qualifier and this will be her 2nd regional trip as she is only a sophomore. Judith is also setting new Lady Warrior records in cross country and she is also working hard to advance to the state meet in Round Rock on November 2nd.
9-WEEK GRADING PERIOD RESULTS
I always place a strong emphasis on success in the classroom to our athletes. We recently completed the first 9-week grading/eligibility period and we had a 93% passing total for all girl athletes, grades 7-12. While I am proud of this percentage and pleased with the effort of our athletes, I will continue to emphasize the importance of academic success and strive to improve those numbers as we move forward.
