Week of October 7
Miners in the Spotlight
Drama Fall Play - The El Diamante Drama Department's production of "Badger" was a delightful showcase of talent, creativity, and teamwork. From the moment the curtain rose, it was clear that our students poured their hearts into this performance.
Shoutout to Nicole McAvoy and our drama students!
Leaders of Tomorrow Events - This past week, our Media Arts and STRONG academies participated in the Leaders of Tomorrow event at El Diamante High School. Sophomore students had the opportunity to ask questions and learn about careers in their respective fields from industry partners and community members. A special thank you to our VUSD College and Career District leaders for organizing and planning the event. We also appreciate our academy leads, staff, and, most importantly, our students for their engagement and enthusiasm.

Announcements and Reminders
Student Lunch Deliveries - Due to an increase in theft and lack of storage space for student lunches, we will no longer allow lunches to be dropped off in the main office. Students will need to come through the gate during lunch to receive their order. If an order arrives too early, drivers may leave the lunches outside and they may go missing. If students are wanting to order lunch, please plan accordingly. However, free breakfast and lunch is available in the cafeteria daily and there are also options to purchase food on campus.
AP Exam Registration Info (9/23-10/18) - AP Exam Registration is now open through October 18th. CLICK HERE to register for AP Exams. Students must register using the google form in order to have their exam ordered. Once they have registered the exam(s), they will need to pay in Finance by October 25. If they want to use the free exam or apply for reduced fee exams, they will need to go to Student Services to get approval before going to the finance office to finalize payment and order. Here is the AP Presentation Slides provided to students in their AP classes. Again, all exams must be registered and paid for by October 25th to guarantee ordering of the exams.
Support Student Success - To support your student's success at EDHS, here are a few important reminders:
- Review PowerSchool and Schoology together with your student on a weekly basis.
- Communicate regularly with your student's teachers, especially if your student is facing academic challenges.
- Stay informed by visiting the EDHS website and reading the Community Update.
- Ensure your student's Chromebook is fully charged each day and that they bring both the Chromebook and charger to school.
- Make sure your student arrives at school on time, whether they're being dropped off, driving, or taking the bus.
- Emphasize the importance of engaging in learning in the classroom. We continue to experience issues with disrespectful behavior toward teachers, which detracts from the learning environment. Please remind your student of the importance of respectful behavior.
- Reinforce the importance of following our District and school policies with your student. These policies are in place to ensure the safety of all students.
- Cell phones and earbuds must be put on silent and stored in your student's backpack during instructional time.
