Next Year Intentions Status π
We noticed a significant amount of parents/guardians have not yet completed their online Next Year Intentions Status forms.
In order to help us plan and appropriately allocate resources for the 2024 - 2025 school year, please take a moment to log in to the PowerSchool Parent Portal and complete the "Next Year Intentions Information" section by May 10, 2024.
To those of you who have already submitted their form(s) for next year: you are awesome and we thank you so much! π€π€
If you require assistance accessing your PowerSchool Parent Portal account and/or completing the online form, please reach out to Ms. King at 780-672-2975 or olmp@eics.ab.ca.

BRSD Transportation Registration Update π
BRSD Transportation is pleased to announce that bus registration for the 2024/25 school year will open at 9 a.m. on April 17, 2024, and close at 4 p.m. on June 27, 2024.
The change in the registration window will allow for more timely notification of student bus assignments. This change also allows for better communication between schools, families and transportation department staff. Earlier route assignments help bus drivers to be fully prepared for the upcoming school year and adjust to any route changes that may occur.
Students from the City of Camrose and the Town of Tofield must register annually. For all other locations, students need to register only if this is the first time they have ridden a BRSD school bus, such as new students beginning Kindergarten.
Additionally, students that have had changes to their contact information, such as physical address or school of attendance, are required to register. If there are no changes to student contact information, rural students will automatically be included in the route plans for the upcoming school year, and there will be no need for them to register.
Applications for school of choice/cross boundary transportation will be available at 9 a.m. on May 1, 2024.
For more details and eligibility information, please visit www.brsd.ab.ca/families/transportation.

Please join us in wearing blue for World Catholic Education Day and Catholic Education Week π
Prayer Labyrinth π
We will have a prayer labyrinth at OLMP from May 6th to 16th.
What is a prayer labyrinth?
According to the McGrath Institute for Church Life:
Praying with a labyrinth is a form of walking meditation, a physical expression of the interior journey towards Christ that characterizes all Christian meditation. Like a pilgrimage, forms of walking meditation evoke our earthly journey towards heaven while simultaneously giving us time and space to listen and respond to the Lord.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT π€
Alberta Student Leadership Conference (ASLC) π
On Sunday April 28th, eight highschool students and Mr. Reinhart left for the Alberta Student Leadership Conference in Airdrie!
Over three days the students got to hear from amazing keynote speakers such Sam Demma, Ian Tyson, and four time Olympian Heather Moyse. They also attended numerous workshops to learn about self-compassionate leadership, resilience, goal setting and how to let go of the opinions of others to make our school a place where everyone belongs.
From meeting new friends from all across the province to raising over ten-thousand dollars for the Canadian Cancer Society through Relay for Life, Evann, Jayda, Lusia, Denver, Taylor, Sky, Malik and Alex are ready to bring everything they learned back to OLMP!
Parent/Guardian Resources πͺ
Visiting OLMP:
To ensure a safe environment for all, we kindly ask that all parents and guests sign in at the school office upon arrival. Please refrain from using side doors to enter classrooms or the gym unless it is during an authorized after-hours event.
This helps us maintain an organized environment, keep track of who is on campus, and ensures we can assist you promptly.
Thank you for your support and understanding as we prioritize the safety of our school community.
Technology requirements at OLMP:
OLMP School is a 1:1 technology school.
This means students from grades 5 - 12 should have a fully charged device available daily.
As stated in the handbook:
Students should bring their devices to class with the following criteria:
- 6 hours of battery life
- Internet access (Chrome browser preferred)
- Google apps for education downloaded
- Minimum screen size of 7 inches and physical keyboard
Thank you for supporting their learning by reminding your child to charge and bring their technology daily.
Attendance matters:
Student success and a sense of belonging starts with consistent attendance at school.
Ensure that your child is consistently attending, so we can help them reach their full potential. Please reach out to your child's teacher, school administration, or our FWW team if attendance is a challenge for your family.
"Good attendance" is attending >95% of classes - which is roughly missing 0-1 days per month.
Yearly forms:
Please take a few minutes to complete your child's demographic forms, medical forms, and all yearly consents (FOIP, tech use, field trips) on PowerSchool.
It is important that this information be kept up-to-date every year, especially if there is a change in medical status, parent/guardian/emergency contact information, and/or address.
If you need assistance with using PowerSchool - including completing and submitting yearly consent and demographic forms online - please visit the main EICS website for instructions and helpful video tutorials.
Reporting absences:
Student absences can be reported through the Parent Portal on PowerSchool:
Single day absence:
Multi day absence:
PowerSchool can also be used to view grades and report cards, pay fees, and update student information (including medical information).
You can view the EICS Parent Technology Handbook for further details on these items.
Our Elk Island Catholic Schools IT department is continuing to work on implementing additional features, so keep an eye out in our Smores for future updates!
To access PowerSchool, please click here.
School fees:
Fees can be viewed and paid through the parent portal in PowerSchool under βForms and Feesβ. If you have any questions, please contact the school or email lorindatw@eics.ab.ca
Please access your child's account periodically to view any additions or changes to course fees.
Thank you.
Pick-up/drop-off areas:
Please make alternate plans for a pick-up/drop-off location as our staff parking lot is no longer available as an option. This area has become far too congested in the past and is an extreme OH & S concern. Also, to ensure the safety of our students, staff, and bus drivers, PLEASE STAY CLEAR OF BUS LANES AT THE BEGINNING AND END OF OUR DAY.
Please follow the flow of traffic in the student parking lot on the south side of our building. You will notice that there is no longer a "turn left" option (right turns only) when you exit the parking lot.
Alternatively, please also look at streets/locations other than the alleys that are close to our school where students can safely access our school site.
While we understand that this takes away some convenience, we are concerned about the safety of your children.
Thank you for your attention to this.
