Principals Desk
First of all, I would like to thank all the students, staff and the Lincoln community for wishing me luck and encouraging me on my first marathon in Indianapolis tomorrow. Something we teach our kids is that when you want something you need to set goals and work hard for them. I hope to model this in my actions and daily interactions with our kids.
When COVID hit and things were shut down, I needed something to focus on and maintain positivity and get out. I began running, which lead to setting a goal to complete a marathon. I trained initially for last October which was rescheduled, then April also canceled and rescheduled for this October and that was also canceled. I was encouraged to not give up by friends and family, I kept training and signed up for a different marathon which is tomorrow. Thank you for all the encouragement and support.
Today is the end of the first trimester. This first trimester has been filled with so much learning and growing for all of our students. Next week students in grades 3 and 5 will take the COGAT test, above is the parent letter and specific dates these will be administered.
Daylight Saving Time
Daylight Saving Time ends this Sunday, November 7, 2021, at 2:00 am. On Saturday night, make sure to set your clocks back one hour (i.e., gaining one hour) to “fall back.”
Lincoln also plans to decorate a tree in the St. Charles holiday tree trail. The student council and Ms. Watts will support making these decorations and ornaments. We are looking for families that may be interested in helping decorate on Monday, November 22, at a time that will be determined. If you are available ad interested please email Mrs. Woodring, at michelle.woodring@d303.org.

Veteran's Day preparation--LAST CALL--
In an effort to honor our veteran's we are beginning to plan our Veteran's day celebration. Below is an attached flyer for you to print and complete and return to school so we can place these up in our hallways and students can see photos and information regarding Lincoln community veterans. We also would like to do a parade/outdoor celebration honoring those that are able to join us in person on Nov. 11 in the morning. If you know of a veteran that you would like to be invited please complete this google form, including their address or email so we can email invitations to honor them. At this time it is too late to mail invites but we can email and include any veteran's you would like us to reach out to.
