Principal's Message
Hello Sabre Families,
I hope that you all had a great May long, long weekend. I loved having those few extra days off this year, it really allowed staff to rest and get their energies back for the last 4 weeks of school. I am definitely a fair-weather golfer and gardener so I did not get as much accomplished outside as I would have liked. So appreciative of the recent moisture that has allowed some evacuees to return to their home communities.
First off congratulations to Mrs. Lister and Mrs. Storey who along with the Cast and Crew of "Mean Girls" for their amazing performances this past week. The students absolutely knocked it out of the park each and every performance with the emotional finale, for many of our grade 12s, on Thursday night. As the old saying goes, the devil is in the details, and Mrs. Lister and Mrs. Storey analyze every detail of a performance including costuming, roles, script, sets, blocking and props.

Salisbury Band In Toronto
Congratulations to the Salisbury Composite High School Concert Band on their recent achievements at MusicFest the Canadian Nationals Music Competition in Toronto. Under the direction of Mr. Graves, the Concert Band earned their invitation to Nationals by receiving a Superior rating at the last Alberta Band Association Festival of Bands. It had been over 30 years since SAL was last invited to Nationals. The band performance featured outstanding concert band music which was highlighted by a composition written by Alan Bell based on the work he did with SAL music students in 1984 called “Chaos Birth of a Dancing Star”. The band did an amazing job receiving a Silver Award, an award of Excellence, and student Lyndon J. was recognized as the Most Outstanding Performer. The band attended many concerts and events and was able to visit the Royal Ontario Museum, the CN Tower, Ripley’s Aquarium, and Niagara Falls. If you would like to see the band in action their final year end performance will be on May 30 at 7:00pm in the large gym. Admission is free.
We also congratulate Dustin L. who brought home Bronze in the Skills Provincials Baking Competition! All that hard work got him on the podium and we are very proud of him. Dustin and Ms. Higuchi spent countless hours in the commercial bake shop perfecting his baked goods.
