Ni tuwe he (Who are you) is a concept of making a connection to our relatives and community. We want our children to be able to tell who they are confidently in the language. We want to show them the connection between past, present and future. Each family has a story.
We are creating a space in the classroom to help student see they are a part of the class. In this space students see who are relative and will also learn kinship terms in their TPR class. We will be encouraging students to use these terms further than Thunwin and Leksi.
Kinship is a very huge part of who we are as people. How we create our spaces is a reflection of our students. How does this transition to the community? As we celebrate our students families this will also strengthen us during this hard time. We want our children to be proud of who they are.
We also know that data shows us that "cultural identity", significantly impacts their learning experience and interactions within the classroom environment. Students who are strong in their identity have higher achievement levels, and we are seeing this now.

Family fun: Planets visibile during this month!
This month 5 planets will be visable in the night sky. For more information on how to see these planets see the link below! Many of our stories are tied to the stars and the Milky Way Galaxy.
During the winter months our tradtional stories are told. We will be learning about these cultural stories this month. It is also a good time to look for the race track and Tayamni.
