Band Schedule
  • 4:00 PM - Short run-through rehearsal outside
  • 4:30 PM - Rehearsal ends, begin loading trailer (eat during this time)
  • 5:15 PM - Inspection
  • 5:30 PM - Load buses and depart for game
  • 6:00 PM - Arrive at the stadium
  • 6:15 PM - Line up to get into the stands
  • 7:00 PM - Game Begins
  • 10:00 PM - Game Ends (estimated time)
  • 10:30 PM - Parents pick up students

**Performance wear for this game includes tennis shoes, NSHS BAND T-SHIRT and NSHS BAND SHORTS

**Students are allowed to eat in the band hall after rehearsal. We HIGHLY advise that all
students bring something to eat with them before the game.

PLEASE NOTE: The ending time of the football game is estimated only. All students will be asked to contact their parents when the football game has concluded

Transportation Information For the Game

PARENTS PICK UP STUDENTS AT NEWMAN SMITH HIGH SCHOOL FOR THIS WEEKS GAME.


ALL STUDENTS MUST RIDE THE BUS TO ALL AWAY GAMES. STUDENTS WITH VEHICLES ARE NOT ALLOWED TO DRIVE TO AWAY FOOTBALL GAMES


The high school band provides transportation to all away football games. We only provide transportation to the home games, however, we do not provide transportation back to the school during home games. We ask that all parents pick up their children at the end of every football game. On the itinerary, you will find a map of where to pick up your child at the stadium.

Supplies Needed For the Game

Below is a list of items all students need for the first game. If you have any questions, please email one of the directors.


1. New Band Shorts

2. Tennis Shoes

3. Band Shirt (provided by the band)

4. Flip Folder

5. Instrument Lyre (Provided by the band)

6. Water Bottle (REQUIRED)


ALL STUDENTS SHOULD HAVE A FLIP FOLDER. THESE MUST PURCHASE ONE ONLINE OR AT A MUSIC STORE

Rehearsal Schedule Next Week

All students are required to be at all rehearsals before and after school. The rehearsal schedule can be found below...

Mondays - 4:30pm to 7:30pm

Tuesday - 6:30am to 8:00am

Wednesdays - 6:30 am to 8:00 am

Thursdays - 6:30am to 8:00am

Band Registration 2022

All students MUST register for the NSHS Band. Registration requires paperwork to be filled out and signed by parents AND students. Below is the link to the Registration Documents. The documents can all be filled in online and submitted to the band directors electronically. The link below will send you to an information page. It will ask for your name and email address. Once you press submit, the documents will then be forwarded to your email. Check your email, click on the Registration Document link and fill out and sign all the paperwork.


THIS MUST BE DONE AND IS A REQUIREMENT TO BE IN THE BAND. If you have any questions, please contact one of the band directors and we can help you.

3 WAYS TO PAY FEES

Paying your band fees is pretty simple. Fees for the band are $350 per band student for the entire year.


PAY YOUR FEES ONLINE

1. You will need your child's name, ID, and grade to process the payment.

2. Go to https://tinyurl.com/smithbandfees

3. Under the “Amount” tab, please enter the amount you wish to pay.

4. In the “Text Box,” enter Student's Last Name, First Name, Grade, & ID #

5. Click “Add to Cart” and follow the directions for payment


PAY FEES BY CHECK

1. Make all checks payable to Newman Smith High School

2. The student turns in the check to Mr. Smith

3. Mr. Smith will then give your student the receipt


PAY FEES BY CASH

1. All cash payments MUST be in an envelope with the student's name on it

2. The student turns in the check to Mr. Smith

3. Mr. Smith will then give your student the receipt

Band Physicals Are Due

Physicals for the band are REQUIRED by UIL for all students who participate in band or color guard. A parent must be in attendance during the physical, and all students MUST use the official UIL Physical form. That form can be found below.

NSHS BAND ABSENCE REQUEST FORM

We understand that conflicts arise from time to time. If for any reason there is a conflict with a rehearsal or performance, students may request an absence (or partial absence) from a rehearsal by filling out the online form below.


We ask that all students please work out any conflicts, reschedule any appointments, or make the necessary arrangements before requesting to be absent from a rehearsal. Missing rehearsal will affect your marching spot and/or put you severely behind the rest of the band.
