Katherine Johnson faced numerous challenges to pursue education, she was 1 of 3 Black students and the first Black woman chosen to integrate West Virginia University. She graduated from college summa cum laude at just 18 years old. Katherine would later work for Nasa where she used her knowledge of geometry for space travel. She figured out the paths for the spacecraft to orbit (go around) Earth and to land on the Moon. NASA used Katherine's math, and it worked! NASA sent astronauts into orbit around Earth. Later, her math helped send astronauts to the Moon and back. NASA could not have done these things without Katherine Johnson and her love for math!

Students, check your Canvas courses for end dates and make sure your MYHOURS are up to date. Keep up the good work! Parents and students, part time registration will begin at the end of March - early April.

Upcoming events: Today, Feb. 3 is the last day for K-6 students to submit coursework for the first part of the third quarter. Parent-Teacher conferences are coming up on February 16 and 17 for students in grades K-8. There will be a hybrid model and opportunities for parents/guardians to meet with teachers in person or online. Teachers will contact you with information on how to sign up.

State Testing: Please note that this semester is state testing season, mark your calendars to ensure that you are prepared and ready to attend required in person state assessments.

Tax Credit Donation: Please consider making your school tax credit donation to Aspire. Funds will be used to support and help grow our clubs, speakers, and field trips. See flyer below or call Aspire for details.

Senior Pictures: February 9th @ from 10AM-2PM at the Innovation Center!

• Students must have this on file in order to access/use medicine on our campus!

• Pictures will include one pose in a cap and gown and one pose in regular clothing. Cap and gown will be provided by the photography company!
