Dear Fairfield Local Families,
Our hope is that this letter finds you and your family in good health. We wish to thank you for being patient and supportive these past few weeks as we implemented at home learning instruction. We recognize that this is a difficult time period for many of our families as we all navigate social distancing, business and school closures and the associated challenges of COVID-19. Our communication to you today is a proposal asking you to partner with us in trying to help our children return to a sense of routine and normalcy in the midst of the chaos surrounding us.
Governor DeWine announced on March 30th, 2020 that the Ohio Department of Health will extend its order to keep schools closed through May 1st, 2020. As a result, beginning April 6th, 2020 all Fairfield Local students will continue their education with home learning instruction. The learning will continue through a series of structured activities that are teacher directed, student implemented and assessed for progress. All home learning activities will be available in an e-Learning format and a printed copy format.
As our administrators, educators and students begin this initiative, we ask for your support. We know that there will be some bumps as we transition our instructional delivery means and methods and we ask for your patience and flexibility.
We will continue to send updates as we embark on our new journey, the Fairfield Local Home Learning Plan.
Together we will make this work.

Structure at Home
- Identify a space, such as a dining room table that could become the study space. It is beneficial to make this space different from a bedroom or other location with distractions.
- Develop a structure for school work.
- Eliminate other distractions, such as cell phones and television, from the environment.
- Take a few minutes to help your child get a feel for the "week's worth" of assignments.
- Ensure some "brain breaks" and exercise opportunities within the work time.
- Reach out with questions. We want students and parents to ask for help or direction if they need it.
Food Service
Fairfield Local Schools will be offering meals to all of our students during this break from regular session. Meals will be available Thursday from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm. This will begin April 9th. The meals provided will be complete meals for each week day until the next delivery/pick-up.
We are offering three pick-up locations:
- High School Circle
- Leesburg Church of Christ
- Highland United Methodist Church
