Cedar Grove Friday Flash
November 22, 2024
Dear Cedar Grove Families:
The MAEF mobile science lab is visiting Cedar Grove! The Maryland Agricultural Education Foundation (MAEF) will be visiting Cedar Grove from December 2 - 5. Students will engage in a hands on lesson during their time in the mobile lab. This program is part of the Maryland Ag in the Classroom program. Montgomery County Public Schools and Montgomery County Government are partners in this program, which provides a “field trip experience” to elementary school students without leaving the school’s property. We are looking for volunteers to help assist on the lab. Please click here to view the volunteer opportunities. If you have any questions please contact Dana_L_Troup@mcpsmd.org
Our composting is off to a good start this year! Students were able to divert 421 pounds of food from landfills and incinerators in October 2024. Congratulations to all of our students for their efforts!
Due to the upcoming short week of early dismissals and school closures, the next Friday Flash will be sent to you on December 6. We wish you a safe and enjoyable holiday break!
Have a wonderful weekend!

From Mrs. Hirschhorn, Media Specialist
It's time for a sneak peek into the December 2024 media monthly. You'll see the new lessons that our students will experience in the media center next week and the week after Thanksgiving break. I'm also adding the link to the Haudenosaunee Thanksgiving Greetings to the Natural World here, in case you missed it last week! We're getting ready for a lot of media-sponsored activities that begin in the new year. The media monthly has the link to the grade 5 book club permission form. I'll be handing out print versions to our fifth-grade students these next two weeks. These completed book club forms are due December 20, so that I know how many books to borrow from the public library. I'm also opening the permission form for our grade 4 and 5 music cafe performances in January and February. These next few weeks are the perfect opportunity to chat with your students about performing for their friends during recess. The completed forms aren't due until January 3, so you can have multiple conversations! Have a wonderful weekend!
