RSU 4 Community Newsletter May 2024
Staff Appreciation Week: May 6-10
Next week, we will be celebrating all of our staff during Staff Appreciation Week! This is an opportunity to celebrate our amazing staff and all that they do to support our students in their various roles. We want to thank our PTO for their efforts in also recognizing staff by providing goodies throughout the week.
We encourage students, families, and community members to reach out to staff and share a positive note!
Last Day of School: June 14!
The last day of school is June 14th! We received a waiver in November for October 26th and October 27th. This means that we do not need to make up those days. However, we do need to make up the 5 traditional snow days. Our original last day was June 7th, but with the addition of the 5 traditional snow days to the calendar, our new last day is June 14th. Please plan for June 14th to be an early release day in addition to June 12th.
Public Budget Meeting: May 15
The Public Budget Meeting is May 15 at 6:30pm at Oak Hill High School in the gymnasium. All staff are welcome to attend. Only residents of Litchfield, Sabattus and Wales will be able to vote.
On April 24, the Board approved a $23,377,580.00 school budget. The Board reduced the proposed budget by $252,010 through cuts to non-position items. Additionally, the Board eliminated an open secondary position and several stipends (2 tech. coaches, ski club, Aesop, CR Yearbook), totaling $99,600. The approved budget includes funding for three positions currently supported by ARP federal funds: OHMS Assistant Principal, OHMS Dean and one IT technician. The only additional position is a full-time bus driver. Click Here for more specific budget information. Thank you!

Shakespeare's Hamlet
In Mr. Young's English class, students step into the world of Shakespeare's 'Hamlet' with enthusiasm and creativity. By taking on the roles of the characters and interpreting the language, our kids really understand what's going on in the story and gain a deeper appreciation for this timeless classic of literature.

Libby-Tozier and Sabattus Primary Tours!
The School Board's Finance and Facilities Consolidation Subcommittee is inviting members of the community to take tours of Libby-Tozier and Sabattus Primary Schools. These are the two oldest schools in the district that are in high need for facilities improvements. These two schools were scheduled to be closed with the proposed addition to Oak Hill Middle School. However, the referendum to approve the addition failed in the summer of 2022. The Consolidation Subcommittee has been reviewing the two facilities and space availability in all buildings in order to make a recommendation to the Board's Finance and Facilities Committee. The Subcommittee is soliciting feedback from community members who participate in the tours. Please see the poster below for more information. Thank you!
