All Students Are Curious, Creative, and Confident Learners!
Dear Kendallvue Families,
What a great day for field day today! It was so much fun watching the kids engage in all the activities and winning “medals”! Thank you Mrs. Spencer for setting up a super fun field day! Thanks to all our volunteers for helping kids navigate the stations, especially Ms. T and Mrs. Dunning. I hope you all were able to watch your student(s) and get some good pictures!
Tomorrow is our first ever Family Hike at Lair O’ the Bear park. We will meet at the trailhead at 10:00am. Please make sure to bring water, snacks, and sunscreen. We will have a sign at the Bear Creek Trail trailhead for us to meet. See the picture below. Our meeting place is circled in red on the map.
We are still in the month of September and it is still Attendance Awareness Month. Each week I will have something to remind families of the importance of school attendance and showing up on time. Research demonstrates a strong connection between student attendance and academic performance. This particular data piece hit home for me - by 9th grade, good attendance can predict graduation rates even better than 8th grade test scores. We understand some absences are unavoidable due to illness or family emergencies but we also know that students who miss too much school, even occasionally, can fall behind academically or socially.
We look forward to seeing you at Lair O’ the Bear Park tomorrow morning.
Have a great weekend!
Cheers,
Bruce Lindsey
Principal
