East Fallowfield Arts Night
On Wednesday evening, East Fallowfield hosted their first annual Arts Night and it was a magical evening! The halls were buzzing with students and their families, admiring all of the amazing art work our students have created this year! Our Big East musicians put on multiple performances that wowed the crowd! We had a visit from the Coatesville Library and students received free books! Our reading specialist, Mrs. DiSands ran a raffle and guessing game station and we had a Poetry Slam featuring some of our 5th grade poets! One of the highlights of the show was the Glow in the Dark exhibit! It was an amazing night and an awesome way to celebrate the talents of our students!
Special thank you to Ms. Willgruber for turning our school into an art museum and to Mrs. Mullen for leading our musicians!
DiscoverEd Collaboration
Artist Visits East Fallowfield
As a culminating project for our 4th and 5th grade graffiti unit, our amazing art teacher, Ms. Willgruber, asked artist Seper Torcasio to come to East Fallowfield. He is a professional graffiti artist who lives and works in Philadelphia. Seper showed the kids how to use non-toxic spray paint and everyone worked together to create 2 large scale paintings. The pieces themselves were made up of 8 x 8 in. canvases that were nailed together to create 2 large works. The students were shown how to use different techniques such as making straight lines, fades, and blurs.
The paintings were displayed at our first annual Arts Night and were a fan favorite! After the art show, Ms. Willgruber took the larger works apart to give a canvas to each of the students to keep. These paintings will not only remind our students of this incredible experience, but will also remind them of what they learned.
Garden Club Surprise
On Friday morning, our Garden Club started the day off by spreading joy throughout the school. The students and their advisors Ms. Gina and Mrs. Rodriguez, have been hard at work creating beautiful bouquets to hand out to our staff for Teacher Appreciation Week. It was a lovely surprise and a great way to celebrate our teachers!
One Book, One School
As you know, back in March our students participated in a March Madness bracket to choose the book for our One Book, One School challenge. It was a close race but ultimately the winner was 8 Class Pets, Plus One Squirrel Plus One Dog Equals Chaos.
Students in grades 1-5 have received a copy of our book that they are reading in class with their teacher. Kindergarten students will participate in this building initiative in their classrooms as a read aloud instead of a one-to-one reading assignment.
