October Focus: Agency and Empowerment
We will be focusing on empowerment and agency. When students demonstrate agency at school, they are advocating for themselves and initiating their personal learning. At school we foster this by adding choice paired with letting students experience the consequences of those choices whether that be positive consequences or uncomfortable consequences. Our hope is to empower students by teaching them goal setting and working with them to reach their goals. What are ways your children demonstrate agency and empowerment at home?

September Memories:
September was a busy month. We received our CMAS scores from last year and were pleased to see that we demonstrated growth from the previous year. In addition we completed all of the beginning of year benchmark assessments. Our teachers have been hard at work with precision focus on our goals for our professional learning communities. Students have started fall sports and student-led club proposals have been submitted and approved. Parent/Teacher conferences were last week and we now see the end of the first quarter on the horizon.
This Month:
October will kick-off with picture day and student count day. We will continue to dig into our learning and growing our brains! We are also in the midst of our fall fundraiser for the elementary side. Packets are due on 10/7. Thank you to all who support our school fundraisers! You'll be hearing from middle school when they do their fall fundraiser, Pasta with a Purpose at the end of October. We will end October with Character Day- one of our favorites! More information to come.
PTO:
Our PTO has generously opted to purchase new t-shirts for ALL our explorers! Please consider coming to the next PTO meeting- information above.
