The Wednesday MESSAGE!
Edition #15 November 20, 2024
Parent/Teacher Conferences Are Coming!
Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held November 25th through November 27th. Please look for communication from your child's teacher for the specific date and time for your conference.
Where to Find Student Artwork During Conferences
Parents and Guardians,
When you come in for conferences, be sure to check out the artwork on display!
Fifth Grade has Abstract Expression drawings – rm 51 by the ramp. 52 by the food line and 53 by the Lego wall. They also have Ceramic Plates in the showcase by the gym and in the classrooms. Parents can take the plates in the classrooms home for safe transport.
Fourth Grade has Fraktur drawings in the showcase by the gym, by the circle entrance and in classrooms.
Third Grade has Radial Symmetry projects using origami and printmaking in the gym hallway.
Second Grade has Sunflower paintings and Animal Collages inspired by Panamanian Molas in the gym hallway.
First Grade has paintings in the style of Piet Mondrian in the first grade hallway by the guidance office.
Kindergarten has artwork in the gym hallway. Rm K1 has line paintings, K2 has facial expression drawings (by kdg. entrance and near artroom), K3 used their imaginations with shapes. All kdg will also have mini pumpkin sculptures in the classroom to take home.
The new pieces in the Budding Imaginations Gallery in the gym hallway have the artist statements on display and student work is also framed in the offices.
All students also have artwork to share virtually in Seesaw app. They take photos of their work and add textboxes to explain their learning and creative ideas. This is available through your student’s device all the time. Go to Classlink, find Seesaw and touch their name in upper left to get to the Art room Journal. Ask them to tell you about their work.
They are doing amazing things!
Please email Mrs. Leinbach if you have any questions.
The Giving Tree is returning to Salford Hills!
Parents & guardians, please stop by the Giving Tree during conferences to support Salford Hills families in need this holiday season.
Tags will be available to take from the Giving Tree and will be marked with preferred gifts and return instructions.
We ask that gifts are purchased, wrapped, and returned to school by December 11th.
Questions about the Giving Tree should be sent to Mrs. Seaman aseaman@soudertonsd.org
Progress Reports Coming December 11th
We have a new Elementary Progress Report this year!
The Trimester Progress Report:
- Provides clear information to parents and students about the child's progress in relation to content-specific standards. Unlike traditional letter grades, this report breaks down the subject content into key areas, so parents and students can see strengths and areas for development.
- The numerical performance indicators (4-1) listed below are used to communicate a student’s progress towards learning objectives:
4: Exceeding grade-level expectations
3: Meeting grade-level expectations
2: Approaching grade-level expectations
1: Below grade level-expectations - Emphasizes a student's growth over time, highlighting areas of improvement and ongoing goals. This approach helps to foster a growth mindset by valuing progress and effort, not just final outcomes.
- Ensures consistency in what is being taught and assessed across different classrooms and schools. This consistency helps to set clear expectations for students and provides a uniform way of measuring progress.
- Supports the home and school partnership for the continued growth and development of the whole child.
Progress Reports will be available electronically for elementary students on December 11th at 4:00pm by logging into your Home Access Center Account. This new progress report will also be printed for the 1st trimester and sent home on December 11th.
Mark Your Calendars for the 2024 Holiday Shop!
This year's gift shop will be held during the school day on Thursday, December 5th and Friday, December 6th, and is a great (and optional) opportunity for students to spend up to 25 minutes doing a little holiday shopping for family and friends. There will be a variety of gift items ranging in price from $0.25 to $10.00, with a majority under $5.00. Your child will soon bring home a letter with more information, labels for wrapping, and a money envelope - please check their folders!
Please email holidayshop@salfordhillshsa.org with any questions or concerns.
There are Still Plenty of Open Slots to Volunteer!
Many hands make light work, so please consider signing up for one or more spots to help make this event a success! You can sign up using the link below. Thank You!!
Next Home & School Meeting: Tuesday, Jan. 14th at 6pm in the Cafeteria!
**No December Meeting**
Please join the Home & School Association at our next meeting!
Meetings are a great opportunity to meet other parents, learn about HSA events and discover different ways to get involved and volunteer. Bring your ideas, concerns, or questions to the Board and allow the kids to play since childcare is always provided. We hope you'll join us!
Volunteer at Salford Hills!
Salford Hills Home & School Association (HSA) Volunteer Registration Form 2024-25
The HSA invites you to volunteer at Salford Hills this year! The HSA helps coordinate volunteers for classroom activities, social events, school events, etc. As a volunteer, you are welcome to serve as much or as little as you wish. For example, you can volunteer to help during a specific event, lead a committee, help out in your child's classroom and more. There are so many ways to serve Salford Hills and we would love to connect you with opportunities that would be a good fit for you and your family. In order to be contacted regarding these opportunities, you must join our volunteer list by filling out the form below (you must fill this out each year). There is no commitment by joining the volunteer list. By signing up, you will simply join our list to be notified of events needing volunteers and other opportunities to get involved. Thank you for helping serve our students, families, teachers, and staff at Salford Hills!
Clearances should be submitted to Mrs. Landis in the main office or at jlandis@soudertonsd.org.
