PICTURES AND NEWS
USA AND RENAISSANCE WOODEN RACING CAR COMPETITION
In the previous weeks, students built and refined small wooden cars for a competition with their peers and across learning communities. Cars had to keep within defined dimensions and weights. On Monday, June 10th students on each team competed among each other to determine who had the fastest cars. By the end of the morning, the top four cars of Team USA competed with the top four cars from Renaissance. Their names were written onto a competition chart.
Twenty minutes were set aside at 2:00 pm for a quick series of races to determine the fastest overall car. Ultimately, the Renaissance cars won the between-team races and it was realized that subtle differences in the weights of the cars between learning communities was likely responsible for this result. To make the competition fair, the owner of the fastest car on learning community ended up winning a Ben and Jerry's ice cream prize. The video clips are very short.
BOAT RIDE
Yesterday we shared the photo booth pictures from the students riding on the Spirit of Ethan Allen. Today, there are pictures of student around the cabin and decks of the boat, all taken by Mr. Rouleau.
TEAM DISCOVERY AT THE ST. ALBANS BAY PARK
The whole team spent the Monday school day down at St. Albans Bay. It was quite cool and periodically rainy but students and staff were still able to have fun doing a variety of activities anyway. One popular activity was fishing off of the St. Albans Bay dock. Many groups from school have fished there with none catching the sizes of fish seen with this group. Check out the photos below taken by Mr. Ellis and Mr. Marrin.
4TH GRADE SKITS BY STUDENTS FROM TRIUMPH AND VOYAGERS
Ms. Maher mentored two Triumph and three Voyagers 4th-grade students as they prepared for and performed skits. Several older students from the two teams filled in or helped out as needed. On Monday afternoon, June 10th they put on a show for their team mates in the large gymnasium. Ms. Maher and Ms. Brooks documented the show.

KINDERGARTEN ON TRICYCLES
Whenever the weather is good at the end of the year, tricycle riding is a P.E. option for kindergarteners. Ms. Andrews supervised Ms. Dupont's students as they zoomed around the concrete patio in front of the school on Friday, June 7th.

All meals are intended to be consumed by children aged 18 and under.
If you are interested, please email us every Friday by noon if you plan on picking up a box. Please note that we cannot hold boxes for those who do not email in advance. For more information, feel free to reach out.
FLAG RETIREMENT CEREMONY
June 14th, 10:00 am
Mt. Calvary Cemetery
Team USA in conjunction with the VFW and American Legion will be co-hosting a flag retirement ceremony. We have numerous boxes of old flags that have been prepared by students for a proper retirement. This is a solemn and dignified event. Ceremonies to retire a flag can differ from each other. The short ceremony will include a few words shared by the veterans, pledge of allegiance, taps, and an honor guard with a three rifle volley. The rifles will be fired as a part of the ceremony. There will be a fire onsite to dispose of the flags. The ashes will be buried the following day.
Example of a ceremony - https://youtu.be/tdHXR0PYCuY
Flags needing to be retired can be dropped off at Team USA.
