Need to Know Policies
*** IMPORTANT! A Reminder to Prioritize Traffic Safety for Our Community ***
As the weather turns colder, we’ve noticed an increase in pedestrians weaving through traffic during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up. This trend poses significant safety risks for both pedestrians and drivers.
To ensure the safety of everyone in our community, we kindly ask all families to model safe behavior by using our staffed crosswalk at all times. Our crosswalk staff are here to provide a secure path for you and your children, and by using it, you’re not only prioritizing your own safety but also setting an important example for our students.
Here’s how you can help:
- Always use the crosswalk when walking to and from school.
- Remind your children of the importance of crossing streets safely.
- Be a role model—your actions reinforce the lessons we teach about safety.
We appreciate your cooperation in making our school community a safer place for everyone. Thank you for partnering with us to protect our students and set positive examples for the next generation.
Attendance Counts! Nurturing the whole child
Coming to class helps students make friends, get help from their teachers, and feel a sense of belonging at school. In addition, coming to school regularly has big impacts on academics now and in the future. Our school is ready to help if you are facing barriers to regular attendance, whatever those barriers may be.
Together, we can work on a plan to support your child. Supports in include:
- Your Child's Teacher
- School Counselor
- Family Liaison
- School Administration
- PSD mental health resources
- Student Support Services
Please let us know how we can provide support for you and your student.
Need to Change Your Child's Dismissal Plan?
Please call the office at 970.488.8600 BEFORE NOON. This helps us have a calm dismissal and get all students where they need to be at the end of the day. If you would like to communicate with the classroom teacher as well as the office that is wonderful. However, to guarantee the correct dismissal you must call the office.
PSD Electronic Device Policy
Classrooms work best when students disconnect from social media and personal devices and connect with their classmates, their teachers, and learning. To help make that possible, PSD schools will enforce policies requiring preschool through eighth-grade students to store cell phones, headphones, and all other electronic accessories out of sight and on silent at school unless they have permission from an administrator/designee or it's written into their IEP, 504, or HCAP. This will help students focus on curriculum and ensure classrooms offer a phone-free and social media-free learning environment.
Cell phones, headphones, and other electronic accessories can be amazing resources, but they can also be a major distraction. Social media apps found on electronic devices can harm students’ mental health, exposing them to cyberbullying, hate-based content, false information, and content that may cause them to feel bad about their bodies or socioeconomic status – all available in an easy-to-access format that can feel hard to escape.
Traffic Pattern
Thank you so much for your patience as we implement our systems and train new community members. Some friendly reminders:
- There is no parking in either bus lot. Both of these parking lots are designated for staff only.
- Please only make a right hand turn out of the car lane.
- Please do not get out of your car in the car line. If you need to assist your child into the car or to buckle your child in please park and walk to get your child. This is for everyone's safety.
- North walkers need to be picked up at the exterior cafeteria entrance.
- Green walker tags DO NOT require an adult presence. Red walker tags DO require an adult for the student to be release.
- Please do not walk between cars in the car line, or buses in the bus line. Please use the crosswalk.
