September Communication
GSD College Career Readiness Outreach
Dear CCR team,
We are off and running with the start of the school year. September is one of my favorite times of the year. The season change and the beginning of the school year gives all of us a fresh start. As we get back into the swing of things we want to be sure to build in supports that helps us maintain resiliency. Elena Aguilar shares about the importance of building community in her book, "Onward." Elena Aguilar writes, “September: During the month when we’re surrounded by new people, building strong relationships must be our primary goal. The community we build is foundational for our resilience.”
My challenge to you is to build community within you classroom with your students and with the amazing educators around you.

The goal of AVID tutorials is to teach students how to learn through the inquiry process. Students also learn how to function in collaborative study groups and take their learning to a higher level.
The theme for this year is Progress, Not Perfection! Together, let’s focus on the journey of growth and celebrate our progress, rather than getting caught up in the pursuit of perfection.
Our Latinos in Action Teachers and students are having their family nights and getting ready to start tutoring committees.

The Utah College Advising Corps (UCAC) is a college access program founded on the idea that all high school students deserve equitable opportunities to enroll in institutions of higher education. UCAC encourages Utah high school students to participate in the various higher education opportunities available through Utah’s eight public colleges and universities and eight technical colleges, as well as programs throughout the country. Our goal is to increase the number of Utah students who enroll in postsecondary education.
