NJHS (REMINDER)
The new NJHS advisors for this year will be Mrs. Bazzi and Mrs. Davies. Students and families will be notified the week of October 21st about their acceptance and meeting information. We look forward to a great year in NJHS.
LIBRARY UPDATES (REMINDER)
We had our first classes visit the library this week and students were so excited to see all the new furniture and renovations! We're also getting closer to the library being open for individual students to come visit. In addition to all the books that were checked out and delivered this week, we also focused on some quick tips and shortcuts for using Chromebooks. You can check out the video here.
Students and staff also had the chance to pick names for the newly painted book carts in the library. The winning names were announced during Primetime today: Mario (Kart), Libby, Carty McCartface, Trolly Rancher, Bob, and Bulldog Book Buggy. We got some really creative, punny, and funny suggestions!
Last week, we started a conversation about screen time with a video during Primetime. You can see the video here. If you're interested in learning more about the impact of screen time and strategies to address it with your teen, this guide from Common Sense Media is a great place to start. In addition to this article, the links to further resources at the bottom of the page have helpful and specific tips. As a reminder, student devices must stay in lockers during the school day at West.

P-CCS HATE AND BIAS REPORTING FORM
This policy applies to all "at school" activities in the District, including activities on school property, in a school vehicle, and those occurring off school property, if the student or employee is at any school-sponsored, school-approved or school-related activity or function, such as field trips or athletic events where students are under the school’s control, or where an employee is engaged in school business. Misconduct occurring outside of school may also be disciplined if it interferes with the school environment.
All staff are responsible for assuring support for hate and bias incidents being addressed and for providing support for students and families impacted by an incident. You may access the Hate and Bias reporting form by clicking in this link: Hate & Bias reporting form. You also can obtain a hard copy of the form in your school’s main office.
