June PTA Newsletter

As our year comes to an end, I'd like to thank all of the families and volunteers who made this year such an incredible and memorable success. Thank you for trusting me as President. I am very proud to be a part of this wonderful community and I am excited to continue this journey for another year.

Thank you to our board members Allison Taylor, Jordan Funk and Meredith Ahlberg who have come to the end of their term. For the past two years they have dedicated countless hours to support students, families and teachers of the RES community. They will truly be missed as they continue on to their next endeavors.

We are excited to welcome our returning board members, Kristina Scaviola (President-Elect), Kristi Slater (VP Membership), Michelle Hom (VP Fundraising) and NEW board members Laura Darash (Secretary) and Jaclyn Valente (Treasurer) for the 2024-25 year.

We have two open board positions; VP Programs and VP Communications. We would love anyone interested in learning more about the positions to reach out to me or any of the board members. Our board is a fun, creative and energetic team year in and year out and you will help serve the RES PTA while working with great friends.

On Sunday we celebrated our CT PTA Outstanding Educators; Mr. Matthew Farina - Elementary Teacher, Dr. Sammi Gureasko-Moore - School Psychologist and Melissa Labrosciano - Elementary Principal. Congratulations again to these outstanding educators!

As we plan for next year we are in desperate need of volunteers four our Fall Auction and Parent Night. This is a great opportunity to work around your schedule and meet families!

Quassy night is TONIGHT! If you didn't buy tickets during our pre-sale, you can still join in on the fun! Tickets can be purchased at the door on June 7th for $26 each.

Friday June 7th from 4:30-8:30pm at Quassy Amusement Park in Middlebury, CT.

Children under 2 years old do not need a ticket to attend.

Our 1st Day School Supply sales have started! Save yourself the hassle of in person shopping this summer and have everything your child needs delivered to your door. Click here and select the grade your student will be entering in the fall. It's as easy as that! Every order placed supports the RES PTA and helps to fund programs for our students throughout the school year. Order deadline July 1.

Our Spirit Wear Shop will be closing for the summer! Place orders by June 10th (Monday) to ensure fulfillment before summer break (including the crocheted Rocky!)

June 7: RES/Quassy Takeover at Quassy Amusement Park, 4:30pm-8:30pm

If your student is in need of spirit wear and unable to purchase due to financial reasons, please e-mail us. The RES PTA has angel donations that can cover spirit wear. We do not want any students to feel left out. All requests are kept confidential.

With the support of our community members, businesses and parents, the RES PTA provides teacher grants, supplies books and materials to the RES library and classrooms, aides in school beautification projects, hosts cultural events, a STEAM fair and numerous enrichment programs for over 500 RES students, their families and the community.

Please consider joining our community with your tax-deductible sponsorship and supporting the students at Redding Elementary School for the 2023-2024 school year.

It is time to register as a RES PTA member! Click here to purchase your membership - family memberships are $25. There are a lot of exciting things on deck for 2023-24 and we hope you will join us for the coming school year!

There are many benefits to being a member of the RES PTA - the most important: COMMUNICATION! We cannot send you any emails regarding our monthly meetings, members only events or fundraisers if you are not a member!

Additionally, we host a number of events throughout the year that are FREE for our members (previous years’ events have included: members only movie at the Prospector Theater, ice skating in Westport and more!) Members also receive discounted prices on tickets to our events.
