Center School Chronicle
Friday, May 3
Friday, May 3 is School Lunch Hero Day!
Proud of our PRIDE!
Congratulations to our PRIDE, selected by teachers as Champions of Kindness during our Project Chose Kindness!
Thank you Lions!
We continue to Chose Kindness each day at Center School! We appreciate all of the work and support the Lions provided to help spread this message.
Celebrating our Readers & Writers!
Families came last Friday to celebrate 5th grade readers and writers! Students were proud to share and show off their expert pieces.
Poetry with our Seniors
Our students had a wonderful time at the senior center, and were active participants in a poetry workshop with some of the seniors. Students received many compliments on their behavior and willingness to share their poetry with the group. Students enjoyed pizza, dessert, and drinks with the seniors. The group planned a final May meeting to share in some outdoor games!
STEM Lab!
The Library is buzzing with activity as students work in the STEM Lab! We are coding robots, creating circuits, learning computer science, and problem solving our way through challenging tasks.

ACES Day - May 1
All Children Exercise Simultaneously
https://lensaunders.com/aces/aces.html
Project ACES (All Children Exercise Simultaneously) is a signature program of the Youth Fitness Coalition, Inc. Project ACES was created by physical education teacher Len Saunders in 1989 as a method of motivating children to exercise. ACES takes place on the first Wednesday in May as part of National Physical Fitness and Sports Month along with National Physical Education Week. It has been labeled as "the world's largest exercise class" by the media. Since 1989, millions of children from all over the world exercise together to promote proper health and fitness habits. With the obesity epidemic facing the youth of the world, children's fitness plays a major role in fighting heart disease

Cellphones & Smart Watches
While we recognize the convenience and utility of these devices, we also want to emphasize the importance of responsible usage, particularly within the school environment.
Smart watches and phones have become increasingly prevalent among students, offering a wide range of features and functionalities. However, at our level, their use during instructional time is disruptive and detract from the learning experience. Therefore, we kindly ask for your cooperation in adhering to the following guidelines:
- Cellphones should remain off and secure in backpacks when in school.
- Smart Watches should be placed in a mode that allows for distraction-free learning, most models have a School Mode or Schooltime feature.
As most staff can attest to, service is very spotty in our building. Any urgent messaging from/to students should be communicated through our office. We appreciate your partnership in providing both your child and our staff distraction free learning.
Attendance Matters
If a student has four unexcused absences in one month or 10 unexcused absences in a year they are classified as truant. If a child misses 18 or more days in a school year – excused or unexcused absences – the student is classified as chronically absent.
