Message from the Principal
Dear Kennedy Families and Community
I'm writing to share some exciting news about our school community. Last week, we launched a new feature on ITV called "Principal’s Pick" in which one student a week is honored for doing something good, working really hard, or achieving something amazing? Last Friday, I was privileged to reward the first recipient, a student who returned a lost wallet, with an In-N-Out gift card. I am looking forward to highlighting another amazing student next week!
This week at Kennedy High School is going to be an exciting week! On Wednesday and Thursday, we'll be hosting Club Rush during lunch. We encourage all students to explore the wide range of extracurricular activities available, from athletics to clubs. Research shows that student involvement in extracurricular activities is positively correlated with academic success and a strong sense of school community.
We also have an exciting week of athletics ahead. On Tuesday, August 27th, our Girls' Volleyball team will compete at Laguna High School. The following day, on Wednesday, August 28th, our Girls' Flag Football team will take on Cypress High School. On Thursday, August 29th, both our Boys' Water Polo and Girls' Volleyball teams will be competing at Kennedy High School, while our Girls' Tennis team will be at Ocean View High School. Finally, on Friday, August 30th, we'll host our first home football game against Long Beach Jordan at Handel Stadium, starting at 7:00 PM. Let's fill the stadium with Fighting Irish Green and show our support for our student athletes!
We have noticed that there are a number of students who are tardy to school on Late Start Thursdays. Please help us reinforce the Thursday start time of 9:25 AM. Consistent attendance and punctuality are crucial for students to succeed academically and socially.
Thank you for your continued support of our school.
Sincerely,
Poppy Hill-Bonales
