Welcome! ¡Bienvenido!
Tamarack Families,
Thank you to all those who were able to attend the Grand Opening! If you were not able, you can view the opening on the link above. Just know we are energized and ready to start the school year with you! It was a lovely celebration of community on a beautiful day with many more to come. Lucky me to have the opportunity to know and serve your family 💜
Doors Open At: 7:30, attendance is taken at 8am.
Dismissal is @ 2:20 pm M, Tu, TH, Fri and 1:50 on Wednesdays.
A few things to know for the first days of school:
- Don't worry too much about school supplies, I know backpacks get heavy, students can bring them in little by little. If you need supplies or a backpack (if it creates any stress at all) please let your teacher know, we are glad to help!
- Tuesday, September 5th: 1st-6th grade families, we will greet your child at the front entrance and ensure they safely make it to class; if your child is a bus rider, we will meet them at our bus loop (West Parking Lot).
- Kindergarten families may walk their student to class Wednesday September 6th (the first day for kindergarten), then meet at 8:05 am in the cafeteria for hugs, tissues and high fives. We got this!
- On the first two days, at drop off, if you plan on picking up by car more regularly (East, off Kinnaman lot), please stop by our station next to the main entrance we will have a sign for you car window, this will help support a quicker drive through pick up routine.
- Doors open at 7:30 am (this is when busses arrive as well); students can choose to eat breakfast or wait in the gym with their classmates. At 7:50 we will supervise their walk to their homeroom where they will be greeted by their teacher. We take attendance and begin our school day at 8am. They may arrive any time between 7:30 and 8am.
- Dismissal is at 2:20 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. On Wednesdays we dismiss at 1:50pm
- If you plan to pick up by car, please stay in your car (car on) and pull forward (we will have signs) along the curb of the East (Kinnaman ) parking lot; it is a possibility that you may have space to park and walk up as well (to the undercover area).
- If you are walking, homeroom teachers will be in the undercover basketball area supervising their class pick up, please meet them there (this is also on the East, Kinnaman parking lot side). We will have 3 crossing guards stationed at key spots to support your child's safe travel.
- If you want your child to be able to walk home on their own, please let your homeroom teacher know, we will not send a student home on own without your consent.
- If your child rides a bus, they will be supervised to the bus loop (Reed Street parking lot). Siblings will be seated together on the bus. Solo Kindergarten students are seated up front near the driver.
- Students attending Champions onsite, will be supervised to Champions located in the school cafeteria.
- Please be sure if you have a family member, friend, someone other than yourself picking up your child they must be on your approved list. We check IDs and only approved members of a family's care plan are allowed to pick up. This can be done through the Parent Vue app (see below for more information) as well as our front office.
- If your child receives any medications (could include access to cough drops or medical prescriptions), they must be turned into the front office in the original packaging if you have not done so already.
Know that this is our first ever dismissal at Tamarack, and safety is the priority. We will adjust as we learn more about the flow of traffic and the needs of families. While it may take a little longer the first few days, we want to ensure we get this right! We thank you again for your patience and support.
I can't wait to roll out the red carpets and welcome our VIPs, your kids! A special day to remember and celebrate! See you soon, Principal Christy Walters & your Otter Team

🦦Tamarack Community Group: We have created a Parent (Family) Teacher Organization, thanks to one of our awesome moms but she can't do it all and we need your help. If you're interested in serving in a leadership role (President, VP, Secretary or Treasurer) please email our Office Manager, Brenda Danielowicz @ danielob@hsd.k12.or.us. Much has already been done but there is still a lot of great things to do like setting up a Tamarack Gear Store (T-shirts, water bottles, etc…), parent meetings, socials and fundraisers. You're not alone and we can all pitch in to help. We want to hear from you!
