Welcome to the 2024-2025 School Year!
Greetings Webber Elementary Students and Parents,
The Webber Staff has reunited and is extremely excited for the upcoming school year. I challenge all of our students to approach this new year with an equal enthusiasm! Teachers have been busy, and staff have been making final preparations. The violent storms yesterday have thrown us quite a curveball. As you know, due to prolific power outages throughout the district, Wednesday's "Meet and Greet" has been moved to the afternoon, 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. The event is an "open house" format, so feel free to swing by anytime during that time frame.
Meet and Greet serves as a sort of unofficial beginning. We look forward to the smiles, laughs, and eyes full of wonder. Excited, nervous, or somewhere in-between, we would love to see you here. Together, the roles of both parent and teacher are important in making our students feel positive and optimistic about the school year. I would like to wish everyone the very best Labor Day Weekend, widely considered a bookend of the summer season. Enjoy a campfire, make a S'more! Share quality time together. Reminisce about the good times that have been had, and the great times that lie ahead.
Regarding next week: For our youngest learners, we've arranged a plan to gradually acclimate DK/K students with a staggered start to help them become more comfortable with the staff and the school environment. DK/K parent(s) should come with their students for a 45-minute orientation session on Tuesday, September 3rd. Half of DK/K students will be scheduled to attend a full day of school on Wednesday, September 4th, and the other half will attend on Thursday, September 5th. Beginning Friday, September 6th, all DK/K students will be at Webber for the full day in their assigned classrooms. Please refer to your teacher’s letter for the dates and times of orientations and staggered start days.
In case you missed my introduction at the end of last year, I'm Mr. Palmeri and this will be my first year at Webber. I am absolutely thrilled to be your principal and I'm excited to get to meet you! Visit the Welcome Letter from the Principal on the school webpage if you would like to learn a little more about me. We're going to have an amazing year together.
Please review the detailed information below and don't hesitate to reach out to Kay, our building secretary (kayann.beadles@lok12.org) if you have any questions.

UPDATE! Meet and Greet! - August 28
UPDATE: Webber Elementary's Meet and Greet has been moved due to power outages around the district. It will now take place in the afternoon, 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. (Wednesday, August 28). Families are welcomed to stop by anytime during that time frame to meet their teachers. We're looking forward to seeing you here!
Webber - Drop Off and Pick Up Procedures (Parents Driving)
Protocols will be the same as last year, familiar to many parents. Please review if necessary.
Dismissal Plans - Complete prior to August 30
We encourage students to utilize district transportation if possible. When more students take the bus, it improves the efficiency of arrival and dismissal and relieves congestion and traffic surrounding the school campus. With Webber moving to the late start schedule, we anticipate that traffic will be challenging around 4:00 p.m. on Clarkston Rd.
Please complete the form for each child. If you are unsure, provide your best prediction as to what you believe your schedule will be. Deadline extended! Due August 30 by 2:00 p.m.
Snapcodes Emailed on August 14th
Our returning-student information update process will be done through an online program. This will be the same process we have used in past years. You should have received an email this week with the individual snapcode to access your student’s information from a No-Reply/PowerSchool.com email address. Please check your junk/spam folder if you have not received communication(s) from this address. Remember, only one parent can access and fill out the online student information update. Updating this information each year is vital for us to have the appropriate and updated emergency card information for each student. I appreciate your help in completing and updating your child’s information. Only new families that registered after July 12, 2024, will not receive an email. Please submit your student's information prior to the first day of school, September 3rd. You can also complete the snapcode process when you visit us at Meet and Greet!
Food Allergies
All of our classrooms will be peanut free and some classrooms will have additional allergens that will need to be avoided in the classroom. I will communicate with the families in those specific classrooms before school starts. All foods will be allowed in the cafeteria, we will have designated protocols and spaces for children whose parents feel it is safest for their child to sit at an allergen free table. If your child has a food allergy, that requires them to have an Epi Pen at school, please make sure that information is included when you complete the emergency card information online. Medical forms and additional information can be found on the LOCS Health and Wellness webpage.
Medication - Medical Plans
Per LOCS School Board policy, the only medications that can be carried and self-administered by elementary students are metered dose inhalers and emergency injectable medications, if authorized in writing by both the student’s health care provider and parent/guardian.
Any other medication - whether prescribed or over the counter - must be administered by an authorized Webber Staff member and secured in the main office. District policies and applicable medication consent forms are available on the LOCS Health and Wellness webpage. Be advised that BOTH the respective medical professional (doctor) and parent are required to sign the form.
PSA - Garden Club / Webber Beautification Program!
Welcome back to the 2024 – 2025 school year!
Mrs. Burks and Mrs. Mucci are hoping to start a Garden Club/Webber Beautification program this year along with our fabulous PTO. Come join Mrs. Burks and Mrs. Mucci in late October/early November when families, students, and teachers could serve Webber by raking leaves, trimming trees and decorative grasses, picking up garbage, and pulling weeds. Be on the lookout for more information near the end of October!
Webber Elementary Mumkin Fundraiser!
- September 13 - Online store closes
- October 9 - Flower orders delivered to Webber, pickup onsite
Thank you for your support!
Staff Recognition - Distinguished Dragon
Throughout the school year, if you would like to recognize a staff member from Webber, we encourage you to submit a Distinguished Dragon nomination. The intent of the Distinguished Dragon program is to ensure that staff members who go above and beyond their regular duties are appreciated. The additional effort or support can range from helping an individual to helping a group or any effort that seems worthy of praise.
The staff member can be nominated by a student, parent, community member or a colleague by completing the form at LakeOrionSchools.org/DistinguishedDragon. We ask for the submitter's name and contact information to follow up with specific questions if necessary. Please make sure to select the appropriate school/department form so the message is routed in the proper direction.
Please complete the form entirely so the individual can be appropriately honored for their contributions.
