Parents, we are preparing for the end of year promotion program and need your help. Please send in 1 current and 1 baby photo of your student to your child's teacher (it can be digital or printed photos). Photos are due by this Friday, May 9th!
SC Ready Standardized Testing
As state standardized testing is quickly approaching we wanted to make parents aware as early as possible of the dates. Students tend to test better in their normal environment with their class or regular small group verses taking make up tests. With the early notice, we hope to avoid student absences due to travel plans or scheduling student appointments during the following dates.

2025-2026 School Registration
Registration for the 2025 - 2026 school year is now open. Please log in to your Power School Parent Portal to enroll your student(s). Those students who are registered early will, receive their teacher assignment at the end of this school year.
School Library Books Due
All school library books are due to be returned to the library on Tuesday, May 21st. If your student has misplaced or damaged their library book they will receive a book fine to pay for the book. All fines must be paid in full by the end of the school year. If not paid, the fine will follow your student into the next school year until paid, even if they change schools. We do not accept replacement books as the books we use in our library have special library binding to withstand multiple check outs, and are more costly than regular books purchased from stores or online for personal use. Fines can be paid online through your My Payments Plus account.
Field Day Volunteers Needed!
PARENTS! WE NEED YOUR HELP!!
If you are interested in helping work at a station on Field Day, please email Mrs. Faris kfaris@horrycountyschools.net. In order to volunteer you must have an approved volunteer card. If you are not currently a registered Volunteer, you can click in the below link and follow the instructions to register for your card.

* Let us know which days you can work and if you don’t mind getting wet! 😊 If not, there are other dry stations to place you.

* Thursday, May 29th ~ Kindergarten, first and second grades
* Friday, May 30th ~ Third, fourth and fifth grades
Time:
* Check-in Time for Volunteers is 7:30am outside the big gym.
* First station time starts at 8am.
* Last station time ends at 11:50am.
* Lunch will be provided after the firetruck sprays everyone.

Registration is now open for these NEW STUDENTS ONLY.
You can go on Horrycountyschools.net under the "Student & Families" tab and click on "Registration",
For CD you will click on the 'I'd like to apply for the 4 year old, CD Program.
For K & 1st you will click on the "I am new to Horry County Schools" and need to register my K-1 grade students"

If you have a child who is already in school in any grade, their registration is now currently open for reenrollment.

The 9th Annual Running Hawaiian 5K
The Running Hawaiian 5K will be held on Saturday, May 10 at the North Myrtle Beach Sports Complex. This is the 9th year for this event and it’s a great time for everyone who participates. This is a run or walk event. You can register online at https://runsignup.com/Race/SC/NorthMyrtleBeach/TheRunningHawaiian. Registration is $30.00 per person. Proceeds from this event will fund the "Aidan Keahi Mendoza Scholarship" presented to a student at Socastee High School. Price for the race will increase on April 20 so sign up before that date.
This race is in memory of Keahi Mendoza, a member of the Class of 2017 and captain of the Cross Country and Track & Field teams at Socastee High School. He had a burning spirit and a passion for athletics. On December 26, 2016 he lost his life in a surfing accident. This is always a great event for everyone to come together as a Socastee family outside of the school to support a good cause.
We look forward to seeing everyone at the race!

Student Dismissal Transportation Changes
All changes to a students transportation for dismissal must be submitted in writing to the main office. Please provide a signed note with contact information if you have prior knowledge that the student will be going home a different way or picked up by a different person.
If the student is already at school and you need to make a change to their transportation home, you must send an email to the following address with the appropriate information:

A student is considered truant after:
three (3) consecutive all-day absences, or
five (5) cumulative all-day absences, or
ten (10) or more unexcused tardy or early releases
which are not excused by a medical doctor's written statement, proof of bereavement, or principal's approval.
