There will be a holiday bake sale, silent auction, and several student-created businesses at the event. It's a one-stop holiday shop for baking and great Christmas gifts!
Some great items you will find at the auction: a signed Wayne Gretzky print, CAT bar stools, gift certificates to The Citadel, Browns Social House, Salisbury Greenhouse, Sunridge Ski Hill, Superstore, the Riverhawks, a Lucere gift set (valued at $500), The Keg, Frankie Salon, Dairy Queen, Shoot 360, and much much more. We’re only able to accept cash and cheque.
Hawks Heating Hands and Heads
Leadership 9 is asking students to bring toques and mitts which will be donated to "A Safe Place." Studetns will be collecting them at the front door every morning until December 11, 2024. If we reach our goal of 200 items, there will be a fun event December 16.
Supporting Our Community and Families
Though the holidays can be the most wonderful time of the year, this season can also be stressful and difficult for some families.
If providing for your family over the holidays will be a hardship for you, we invite you contact Erin Clark at erin.clark@eips.ca by Wednesday, December 11 for a Holiday Care Box.
F.R. Haythorne staff would like to provide items for a holiday meal for you and your family.
Mrs. Clark will contact you directly about setting up a time for delivery or pickup.

After School Pick-Up
Student Transportation has busses that leave with students prior to the end of our school day. These busses use our parking lot and they have requested that we do not use this space for parent pick-up of students.
Inclement Weather
With the winter season here, we have a few reminders for families:
- Ensure students have clothing appropriate for expected weather conditions.
- If weather conditions are bad enough to impact student transportation, Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) advises families directly, as well as posting on social media and eips.ca as early as possible.
- Decisions regarding bus cancellations are guided by an EIPS administrative procedure that states, “school bus service may be suspended…when there is a forecast or current temperature of -40 C, including wind chill factor, in one or more regions.”
- Other reasons for suspending or delaying school bus services include adverse weather and poor road conditions.
- When school bus services are suspended, schools remain open to students.
For more information, contact EIPS Student Transportation at 780-417-8151.

Fee Exemption Waiver Due December 16
If circumstances exist where you’re unable to pay school or transportation fees, you can apply to have fees waived by submitting an Application for a Waiver of Fees. The application deadline is Dec. 16, 2024. If you’re new to the Division, the deadline is the latter of Dec. 16, 2024, or 45 days after registration.
To access your fee information, simply log in to the PowerSchool Parent Portal and go to “Student Fees.” There you can view your fees and pay them online using Visa or MasterCard. All fees are due within 30 days of being posted.
Don’t forget to also log in to the PowerSchool Parent Portal regularly throughout the year. Fees are often added to your child’s account to cover the cost of various school activities such as field trips, class projects, extracurricular activities and more.
