Monthly Memo from the Principal

This time of year creeps up on us and then speeds up exponentially!!

We only have 36 days left in school. Every day counts, so please try and have your child present each day for the entire day. Every minute counts at this point in the year. As a reminder, the State of Texas requires that each student attend school 90% of the time. You will be notified when you are out of compliance with this law, but you will also be notified by email when your student misses three days in a row in a ten day time period. If you have any questions about your child's attendance, please contact our amazing assistant principal, Lauren Houser. You can also check your child's Home Access Center for more information. Again, each day matters, so please let us know how we can help you and your Husky!

Please read all of the following information and let us know if we can answer any questions. I have included a link at the bottom for questions to be submitted. We will follow up with you as soon as possible. We would LOVE to know that all of our students are coming back next year and any information that you would like to share with us about your Husky. Please fill out this form for your student (complete one form per student at PHE).

This form will be open until Friday, April 25 at 4:00 PM and will be used to staff appropriately for next year AND to place children in classes with input from ALL stakeholders. Please contact us if you have any questions!

We're excited for this year's Field Day event! The big day is scheduled for Friday, April 11 and will include a variety of fun and exciting games. This year Early Childhood - 2nd grade will have their Field Day in the morning and grades 3-5 will have theirs in the afternoon. Students will stay with their class and rotate between the stations.

- Field Day times:

ELE/ESLE - (8:45 - 9:45am)

PreK - (10:00 - 11:00)

Grades K-2 (8:30 - 10:30am)

Grades 3-5 (12:00 - 2:00pm)

Experiences & Events: Field Day 2025!!!

- What students need to bring:

Field Day T-Shirt if they ordered one, apply sunscreen prior to school, bring a water bottle, and wear a hat if they choose. We will have water stations set up outside for students needing to refill their water bottles.

Students' lunch times:

They will eat in their classroom.

Early Childhood - 12:05 - 12:35

K - 11:35 - 12:05

1st - 12:20 - 12:50

2nd - 11:00 - 11:30

3rd - 10:30 - 11:00

4th - 11:15 - 11:45 New Time

5th - 11:20 - 11:50 New Time

Please go to the LISD Volunteer site to sign up! You must be an approved LISD volunteer to be on campus or on field trips (with teacher approval).

Here is a list of the days STAAR will be administered to our students:

3rd Grade-

Math: April 23

Reading: April 8

4th Grade-

Math: April 23

Reading: April 8

5th Grade-

Math: April 23

Reading: April 8

Science: April 15

For 5th grade students, the State of Texas issued House Bill 1416 and removed promotion/retention requirements and removed retesting requirements. There will only be one administration for 5th grade math and reading STAAR tests.

ANY student 3rd-5th grade who does not meet the passing standard or does not take the STAAR assessment must be provided intervention the following school year (30 hours per content area).

There is NO "OPT OUT" provided by TEA. Students who do not test must be included in HB 1416 tutoring and remediation activities.

In order for us to have the appropriate number of staff members for next year in PK and Kindergarten...we need your student enrolled ASAP! When we get late enrollment, it delays being able to hire enough teachers to support our students and may cause classes to be split after school starts. We do not want that either...so please get your student enrolled as soon as possible. Please share this information with anyone you know who has an incoming PK or Kindergarten student.

Go to this site to start the registration process (it is all online). You will click on the appropriate grade level on the left-hand side and follow the process. For all NEW students, you will need the following items to register: birth certificate, social security card (if available), proof of residency, photo identification (of parent or guardian), and vaccinations to be shared with Nurse Heidi Rodriguez.

Reminder:

If your child is currently enrolled at PHE, you do NOT have to register them again. Only students who have not been enrolled this school year need to fill out the forms.

Enter them in our Leader of the Pack: Staff Edition form. Please fill out this PHE staff recognition form and tell us why this staff member should be recognized. We will choose one-two teachers/staff members per week and they will be recognized on the announcements and receive a certificate and treat!

You can also use this link to find out what your staff member's "favorite things" are and grab them a snack or treat to say "thank you" for all of their hard work and efforts!

We will be hosting our annual Senior Walk on Thursday, May 22rd at 1:30 PM for students who are graduating high school and attended PHE.

Seniors need to arrive at PHE by 1:15 PM that day. We will do a quick introduction of our seniors and parade the halls of PHE starting at 1:30 PM.

We will have cake, drinks, and photo opportunities after the parade. Please feel free to share this information with families who may have moved from Leander ISD. All are WELCOME!
