River Mill Elementary - December 13th
Dear River Mill Families,
We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our Kinder, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd-grade families for joining us this past week for our Winter Music Concerts and the 1st-2nd Family Breakfast. Your support means so much to us, and we love creating these special memories with you and your children. Our students, with the guidance and hard work of Mr. C., did an incredible job showcasing their talents! Thank you for being part of these joyful moments and helping make them so memorable!
This week is going to be packed full of learning and fun! Our staff is working hard to keep things as routine as possible this final week going into our Winter Break. Many of our students have been impacted by illness the past few weeks. When your child is sick, and with a fever or vomiting, please keep them home. Please do not medicate your child to mask symptoms and send them to school. Unfortunately, when this happens, it exposes many more children and we want to keep them healthy and able to attend school. If you are unsure if your child is ready to return to school, please give our office a call and our team can help answer your questions. We want to ensure they're feeling great and we want them to have the best learning opportunity each day when they are healthy. Thank you for also providing your child appropriate clothes for the weather, as it has gotten cold!
Thank you for your continued support,
Lindsey Fullenwider, Principal
Trevor Syring, Vice Principal

Student Behavior and Discipline
To foster a shared understanding of our school rules and how they are consistently enforced, we will be highlighting key aspects of our expectations, including how we try to first teach and support students in making positive behavior choices and how we approach discipline at River Mill. You can also find student behavior and discipline policies in our Parent/Student Handbook. If you have any questions or concerns about our school rules, student behavior, or discipline policies, please don’t hesitate to contact Lindsey Fullenwider or Trevor Syring. We value our partnership and collaboration with families and appreciate your support in creating a positive school environment!
.
What are River Mill's School Rules?
We believe all students can learn and thrive in a nurturing, safe environment. In order to promote and maintain a positive school setting, children are taught the responsibilities of self-discipline. Self-regulated, appropriate behavior is necessary to:
Provide a safe and orderly learning environment,
Help students cooperate with others,
Help students develop self-control, and
Help students learn to respect the rights and property of others.
River Mill’s school-wide rules apply to all who work, visit, or volunteer here, and they support the responsibilities listed above. Our school rules are:
Be Safe
Be Responsible
Be Respectful
Be Kind
Next week will highlight our Discipline Philosophy.
Adjustments to PM Bus Schedule, which started Dec. 9th
In response to valuable community feedback and bus ridership data, we are adjusting the loading schedule between River Mill Elementary and Estacada Middle School to address overcrowding and reduce the time elementary school students spend on the bus. This change aims to create safer and less crowded transportation conditions for all students.
Starting Monday, December 9th we will be loading at EMS first then at loading RME. With this change, we are estimating that all students from the PM Routes listed below should be arriving home approximately 10 minutes earlier than they have been arriving.
Route 2 Batman
Route 3 Mickey Mouse
Route 4 Scooby Doo
Route 5 Sylvester
Route 6 Donald Duck
Route 7 Snoopy
Route 8 Tiger
Route 9 Spongebob
Route 14 Ranger
Route 15 Bugs Bunny
We will continue to monitor the impact of this change and welcome your ongoing feedback to ensure it achieves the desired results. Thank you for your support and cooperation as we work together to improve our transportation system for the children we serve.
If you have any questions please reach out to us in the Transportation Department (503)630-8606
Thank you,
Sara Lawson

Attendance Matters
Did you know that many of our youngest students miss about 10% of the school year—around 14 days, or just two days a month? This level of chronic absenteeism in elementary school can predict lower test scores and challenges with retention in later grades. Every day and every minute of school matters, contributing to your child's growth and success! Please help us support your child's learning by ensuring they attend school every day and arrive on time. Thank you for partnering with us to build strong habits for lifelong learning!
