January 2024 Newsletter
Message From Principal, Mrs. Lisa Langford
Happy New Year! 2024 is upon us, we are ready to set new goals and to see where this year takes us! As we look ahead we see a bright future for Collier and know that the rest of this school year will fly by!
At this time of new beginnings, it is always good to look at what you would like for yourself in the new year. Research shares that making goals is good for motivation and self-confidence. When making goals it is important to choose specific tasks to help you check off your progress along the way. This allows you to monitor and adjust what you need to accomplish your goals!
We hope that you find time in this season of new beginings to reflect and grow!!

News from the Collier Health Office
It's finally getting cold, especially in the morning. Please send extra warm clothes for your child (Jacket, Beanie, Gloves, long pants). If your child came home with Collier Health Office items, please wash and return to us. We don't have enough winter clothing to provide everybody each day. If you have any clothing that you are willing to donate to our Health Office please send them in any time. Thank you to those that helped out by donating so far this year!
OMA Gold News
First of all, I wish to give a huge thank you to our students for their hard work in making our December informances a success. Great job! And I also want to extend a big thank you to the staff and families at Collier for their continued support of the OMA Gold Program in this school.
This semester, our OMA focus changes to science. In addition to using the arts to increase our understanding of specific units each quarter, we will be working toward an amazing culminating event in May centered on the Sonoran Desert biome.
Don’t forget to ask your students what they are learning about in OMA, and to look for this month’s Featured Artists’ work in the main hallway – we are learning about plein air artists this month!

Thank you!
Thank you to the Friends of the Kirk Bear Canyon Library and Hughes Federal Credit Union for your support this year!! We were able to purchase a book every student to take home in December! Santa and his helper helped to pass them out!!
We also were able to puchase a ton of STEAM supplies that we used for our Quarter 2 STEAM Challenge. Classes had to work together to create the tallest snowman they could. They had to include hat, nose, mouth, scarf, buttons, and snowflakes in multiples of 10. Then each class went around to measure in inches and centimeters all the snowmen to see which class made the tallest. Preschool and 1st grade won! Click here to watch a quick video of our challenge!
