Patriot Press
Week of October 21, 2024

Greetings Poynter Families!
Can you believe first quarter is almost done? The last day of the quarter is October 31st. This week, encourage your kids to get caught up on any missing assignments they are still able to turn in and reach out to teachers with any questions you may have. Often times, students wait until the last possible minute to do this. If they wait until next week, it may be too late to turn anything in.
Students who are engaged with the material are much more likely to learn about it. This week in Dr. Battaglia's 8th grade science class, students are learning about force and mass. To get students excited and interested with learning, he had students create catapults and launch cotton balls, ping pong balls, and golf balls to observe the relationship between what they weighed and how far they'd go. This will give them practical knowledge to build on as they talk about these topics throughout the unit.
Go Patriots!
