Weekly Update
October 21st - October 25th

๐ Halloween Parade - Thursday, October 31st from 8:45-9:00 AM
What's Happening This Week:
Welcome to another exciting week in our classroom! ๐ As we dive into our learning adventures, I want to thank you for your continued support and enthusiasm. Your involvement makes a world of difference! Now, letโs jump into what weโve been up to and whatโs coming next!
Last week We had a fantastic time exploring new concepts and engaging in fun activities!
Next week Phonics: This week, we will continue our journey with new digraphs: ch, tch, and wh! ๐ Did you know that the /ch/ sound can be spelled in two ways? When a one-syllable word ends with a short vowel sound right before a /ch/ sound, we use "tch," like in "pitch" or "catch." For words that start with /ch/ or follow a long vowel sound, we use "ch," as in "chop," "beach," and "lunch." Check out the chart on the right for some fun words to practice reading and spelling with your child!
Reading: This week in Reading, weโll focus on making inferences, discussing characters, and identifying significant events in stories. ๐ When reading together at night, encourage your child to look at the cover and take a picture walk. Ask them questions about the story and help them retell the characters, setting, problem, solution, and the sequence of events. This will enhance their comprehension and storytelling skills!
Math: Weโre continuing with Unit Three, where weโll be adding and subtracting within 20. ๐งฎ Keep practicing strategies using an open number line and ten frames at home to reinforce these skills!
Spelling Words: Here are the words we'll be focusing on this week:
chat
enchant
when
catch
pitch
whiff
check
match
once

hurt
that

Until Next Time! ๐
