Acton Weekly Update 2/1/19
FTCSC Hedgehog Focus
The Hedgehog Concept is based on an ancient Greek parable that states, "The fox knows many things, but the hedgehog knows one big thing." ... Hedgehogs, however, simplify the world and focus on a single, overarching vision, which they then achieve.
Coach's Corner
On Tuesday, February 5th I will be showing a brief PowerPoint during our PD time to help point you to various helpful places in our guided reading resources. Please bring your kits, your yellow books, your classroom profiles, and any questions about these whole group assessments and the data you have gathered from them. After the presentation, I will help support you with any questions you have. We won't be talking about grouping students or the guided reading table, since we are not there yet. Our next step is running records. Many of you are scheduled for me to model running records in your room. If you are not on the schedule and would like for me to model running records, please contact me and I would be happy to get you on my calendar!
Curricular Updates:
eLearning! You guys did great! Thank you for making these two days a huge success! Please let Katie and I know of any complications or ideas for the next time. Also, Just a reminder, no grades are taken on e-Learning days. Participation is to be monitored but grades should not be recorded for these days due to unstructured instruction. Assignments are held accountable by attendance. Please check in today with students who have not submitted assignments. See if they need the paper versions. On Monday if neither online or paper pencil have been turned in please reach out to parents to see if they need help. If day 1 has not been turned in by Wednesday, please email Krissy and I names of "absent" students. If day 2 has not been turned in by Thursday, please email Krissy and I names of "absent" students.
