The Connection Week 10 Term 2
Huapai District School 7th July 2022
PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
It has been so good to be able to operate as a school onsite for a whole term!
As a parent (and as an educator) I have learnt the value in tagging things for children. When I see a child doing something without being asked I tag it “using your initiative”. When I see a child giving things a go I tag it “being a risk taker”. When I see a child show concern for others I tag it “empathy”. When I see a child fall and get up I tag it “grit” (or resilience).
I also believe our children are born full and our role as parents is to call out of them the qualities we see in them. What we see in measure in your (our) children is so impressive and encouraging. I find it inspiring to see the quality of children and the qualities within the children that we have at Huapai. Be encouraged - you’re doing great things for your children.
Further in the newsletter is a plea for help with the mud challenge. We are seeking to make the mud challenge a Huapai School branded event. We are wanting to have our school attached to this annually and benefit from this financially. We still need help. We need 20 adults each day for a 4 hour window. Please help if you can - refer below for the details.
Finally, thank you for all the support this term, the flexibility as we deal with sickness and work to keep the school open. I trust the holiday break provides some opportunities for you to enjoy time with your children.

Principal

School Board Parent Election 2022
Nomination round
Schools across New Zealand will be holding their Board elections shortly. This is a great way to serve the community and support the school. Please consider putting your name forward for this election. A Board has 5 elected community representatives and is for a three year term. This process will start with the issuing of nomination papers to our caregiver community by Friday 15th July 2022.
We have employed CES to undertake the election process on our behalf. This year with legislative change, our nomination form and full instruction on how to place your nomination into our own School’s Election website will be emailed to you if we have your email address in our database or you will receive it by post if we don’t have your email in our database.
Nomination papers will also be available at the school office. The school will send those on to CES for processing upon receipt from candidates.
Nominations close on Wednesday 3rd August at 12noon.
Election day is Wednesday 7th September.
MUD RUN - Tough Guy And Gal challenge
Thank you to our wonderful volunteers who are able to help with our mud run marshalling. We are nearly there. Please have a think to see whether you are able to help us with this. We require 20 marshals each day.
Sports Corner
Here are some photos of the Huapai Rubies (Year 3-4) in action for the weekend’s game. They had another win, 12-4.
Players: Zoe Dennis, Mia Sharpe, Hannah Arthur, Ephesian Mohenoa, Anina Kruger, Avei Solomon, Rachael Claassen, Charlotte White, August Smith (absent from these photos).
The Rubies are undefeated so far this season and are having so much fun playing together as a team and learning lots of new netball skills.
A big thanks to Sophie (Coach/Manager) and Perry (Coach).
