St Teresa's School Newsletter
Friday 1st November 2024
Kia ora,
This week we join all of Aotearoa in celebrating our incredible teachers for their dedication, passion, and the countless ways they uplift our tamariki and community. A huge thank you to Mary, Liz, Alison, Amber, Dana, and Michelle for their wonderful contributions to our kura — we are truly blessed to have you.
We also keep our sacramental candidates in our prayers as they prepare for the special occasion of their First Holy Communion. May this journey be filled with grace and joy.
Our senior students have been out in the community today sharing Rotary food bank flyers, demonstrating their commitment to community spirit and kindness. It’s heartening to see our students taking on such meaningful roles to help others.
Good luck to our students taking part in the top teams event this evening!

St Teresa's Community Health Survey
It is a Ministry of Education requirement that schools consult with their communities every two years on their Health programmes. We invite you to spend a few minutes completing our survey. Your views are incredibly important in shaping our local curriculum.

Save Your Teddy Day
The Junior School took part in ‘Save your Teddy’ thanks to Hato Hone St John. These are the steps that Waiorongomai recalled from their learning. It was a fun, yet informative, way to learn about how to help in an emergency. Thanks for all the teddies for coming along to school and thank you for those who were able to send in a donation.
Firewise
This week our school had a FIREWISE visit from firefighters Justin and Grant. They spoke to us about fire safety and prevention tips that help protect us from harm.
The children even practiced a fire drill under a black smoke blanket and learnt to GET DOWN, GET LOW, GET OUT and shout FIRE, FIRE, FIRE!
Birdhouses
Today Isaac’s Grandparents Paul & Viv Lyster helped students to put up our birdhouses. The birdhouses were gifted to our kura by Paul and Dave Bird as part of Wairarapa's inquiry “ Being Kaitiaki of Our Environment".
This supports St Teresa's ongoing kaupapa as an Enviroschool and the development of our garden area.
FOSTA
Friends of St Teresa's
We are excited to announce our latest fundraising initiative – a Wine Fundraiser to support our school community! For each case of wine purchased, $40.00 will be donated to the Friends of St Teresa’s Association to assist with general fundraising efforts that benefit our students and school programs.
This is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy some great wine while also contributing to the continued success of St Teresa’s School. Whether you’re stocking up for the holiday season or sharing a gift with friends, your support will make a meaningful difference.
**How to participate:**
1. Place your order for some bottles of wine. Paper copies in bags!
2. Email the order sheet to the Fosta team or hand it in at the office.
3. Share with your friends and family - even on social media!
We truly appreciate your generosity and support in helping us continue to provide enriching experiences for our students.
For more details or to place an order, please get in touch with fosta@teresas.school.nz
