St Elizabeth's News
NEWSLETTER | TERM 2 | WEEK 9 | 14 JUNE 2024
Good afternoon parents and caregivers,
It is very hard to believe that we only have two weeks left of a very busy term! This week was a big week of events with our Interhouse Cross Country, St Anthony of Padua Feast Day, Pyjama Day and LifeLink! Next week is our Servite House Day with a focus on our value of service. The annual 'Meal in a Can' fundraiser will take place on Thursday and students are invited to wear blue that day!
Thank you to all our staff and parent helpers for making the Interhouse Cross Country a massive success. We were blessed with the weather, only a little bit of rain before the sunshine, and the atmosphere was one of excitement, competition and fantastic sportsmanship. Well done to all our students from Pre-Primary to Year Six for participating in the event, some with looks of determination, others with lots of smiles! Congratulation to our Champion and Runner-Up Boys and Girls from Year Three to Six. Good luck to the students selected for the Interschool Cross Country who will represent our school next week.
Pyjama Day on Thursday was a great fundraising event for LifeLink which is celebrating 25 years of raising much needed funds for LifeLink Agencies. All staff and students enjoyed coming to school in their pyjamas raising $348.00 and completing great activities with their buddy classes. Let's be honest there is nothing better than coming to school in your slippers and dressing gowns!
With Mid-Year Reports becoming available soon, I would like to take this opportunity to remind parents and caregivers that if you have any issues or concerns, please make the time to come and speak with your childโs teacher. Best practice for these conversations is usually after school or at an arranged meeting time, so that the classroom teacher can give you their full attention. If you feel that you cannot speak openly with your classroom teacher, please email your concern to myself or Emma Fernandez (Assistant Principal) and we will organise a time to contact you directly. In my experience, most issues can be solved with open, honest communication and best not aired on Facebook or in the school carpark.
I am hoping that some families will be joining me at St Anthony of Padua Parish, Wanneroo on Sunday, June 16 to celebrate their 92nd Annual Festival and Procession. St Elizabethโs community will join with St Anthonyโs School and the parish to form a celebratory procession starting at 2pm. It would be lovely to have a large sea of red as a strong representation of our school community in the procession.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!
God Bless
Rebecca Clarke

Mid Year Reports - SEQTA
Over the last two we have been busily reading all student Mid-Year Reports in preparation for these to be released on Thursday, 27 June. It is highly evident that since the beginning of the year, students have been working hard in class to apply the feedback provided by teachers to continue to grow in their learning. All of your children need to be congratulated on their growth this semester. Below is some information to assist you to understand your childโs report.
We hope this information assists you to understand the reporting process at St Elizabeth's CPS. If you have further questions, please donโt hesitate to ask your childโs teacher.
Understanding Your Childโs Report
Parents will receive two formal academic reports this year: The report you receive in July is called a 'Mid-year Report.' In December you will receive the 'End of Year Report.'
July โ Mid-Year Report
This report provides parents with a โsnapshot in timeโ of how their child is progressing in relation to the end of year Achievement Standard for each learning area for their year level. The grade provided is taking into account the curriculum which has been taught and assessed to that point in time.
December โ End of Year Report
This report provides parents with an overview of how their child has progressed, across the entire year, in relation to the end of year Achievement Standard for each learning area for their year level. The grade provided is taking into account the curriculum which has been taught and assessed across the entire year, not just Semester Two.
Understanding the Grading System
Is a โCโ grade good?
Yes, you should celebrate C grades as this indicates that your child has progressed to the desired level of understanding for his/her year level.
Is a โCโ grade just a pass like it used to be?
No, a C grade today, is the expected Achievement Standard for each year level and each Learning Area.
Does an โAโ or โBโ grade mean my child is working a year or two above their current grade?
No, an โAโ or โBโ grade means that your child is responding to the content taught to a deeper level. They may be thinking more critically about the content, which is a wonderful skill to demonstrate.
How are final grades determined?
Teachers collect numerous samples of work and assessments to determine the final grade. The grade is determined with the use of the School Curriculum and Standards Authorityโs (SCSA) Judging Standards. For more information on this go to https://parent.scsa.wa.edu.au
Parents will be able to access their childโs report through our Parent SEQTA portal (SEQTA Engage). Those parents who do not have older siblings and who have not previously accessed SEQTA Engage or who are new to the school this year, will receive a โWelcomeโ email which will give step by step instructions on how to set up your account and login. This email will be sent in the coming week. Please note that this email may end up in your โJunk/spamโ folder.
If you have any issues with setting up your Parent Engage account please contact the office.
