Do you have a son in grades K-5? Does your son want to be an Honorary Maverick? Do you know what an Honorary Maverick is? Well, here is your chance to sign him up for the upcoming Boys Basketball season. This is our 18 th year running this program & each year has been a blast for my players too!

Dear Parents: Hello, my name is Jon Nettleton, and I am the Boys Varsity Basketball Coach at Mountain View High School. Your son is on his way to becoming a MAVERICK! I would like to explain a program I run with the elementary school(s) and my basketball program. This is the 19 th year of the program, and it is called the Honorary Maverick. Each home game during the season I will draw two names from a hat and those young boys will be the Honorary Maverick for that game. (Each season I draw around 20 names) Here is what it entitles: the lucky winner will be allowed to attend one specific home game with parents for free (all other family members included as well), each winner will wear a Maverick shooting shirt during the game while they sit on our bench, they will help during warm-ups, they will be introduced before the game, they are allowed in the locker room after the game for a picture, they will be given a signed basketball by the team, receive an honorary maverick t-shirt and a chance to just hang out with the Varsity players. A great night of FUN!

What I need from you as a parent is to email me the permission slip at nettleton.jon@westada.org. Please give me all information below so if your son’s name is drawn, I may contact you. I need your email address, their name, grade, and age, what elementary school they attend and your phone number. I am looking forward to a great season and a chance to meet my future MAVERICKS!!!

Hello,

I hope this email finds you happy and healthy as we transition into the fall season. I wanted to take a moment to share a few important reminders and updates.

As the weather starts to cool off, please ensure your children are dressed appropriately with hats, gloves, sweatshirts or jackets, and proper socks and shoes. This will help keep them comfortable and prepared for outdoor activities and physical education classes.

I will be conducting vision screenings starting on October 14th and continuing through the week. If you would like your child to be screened or opt-out of the screening, please log into PowerSchool and update your consent forms accordingly. You'll need to re-sign the health history page and confirm the changes on the last page for them to be saved. The consent for hearing screenings will also need to be updated.

Please remember to include me in any communications regarding relevant health information for your child. I'm here to support you and ensure their wellbeing.

This year, parents will be required to provide a State Issued ID every time they check out their student from the front office. The ID will be run through our Raptor Program each time and verified through Power School. Thank you for your patience as this might add a delay to your departure.

Be on the lookout in the coming weeks for volunteer sign-up information from your child's classroom teacher! Volunteers are required to check in at the front office (please bring your ID) and must be scheduled with a classroom teacher prior to arrival.
