Dr. Jeffrey Fecher provided a reminder of the April 3 event at Abington Middle School to tour the building in advance of the upcoming referendum on May 20. District Leadership will be available to answer questions about the proposed plans to build a new Middle School. The event will be held in the Little Theater Lobby from 6:30-8 p.m.

• Dr. Jeffrey Fecher recognized the hundreds of students and staff members at Abington Senior High School who helped raise more than $75,000 for pediatric cancer treatment and research as part of the annual AbingTHON event.
• Ms. Allie Artur, Communications Coordinator, shared a video from 6abc Action News about Pennsylvania First Lady Lori Shapiro's visit to Roslyn Elementary School.

Secondary Mid-Year Student Academic Review - Ms. Laura Enama, Assistant Director of Secondary Teaching and Learning, along with Mr. Daniel File, Principal of Abington Middle School; Dr. Alice Swift, Principal of Abington Senior High School; Mr. James Lodewick, Supervisor of Teaching and Learning; Ms. Janine Sack, Supervisor of Literacy; Ms. Ashley Anthony, English Language Arts Teacher; Ms. Catherine Delaney, Reading Specialist; Mr. Edward Harkins, Mathematics Chair; and Mr. Josh Woolsey, Mathematics Teacher, provided a mid-year review of secondary student academic performance. The presentation included results from the fall and winter benchmark assessments for grades 6-10, as well as, next steps.

The Board approved the retirements of:

• Ms. Michelle Pugh, a teacher at Overlook Elementary School, who has served the District for six years
• Ms. Jill Sandler Ligi, an English teacher at Abington Senior High School, who has served the District for 32 years
• Ms. Stephanie Zacharias, an elementary teacher at Rydal Elementary School, who has served the District for 35 years
• Ms. Charnette Berry, a Day Roving Custodian, who has served the District for 37 years
• Ms. Rosemarie Boyd, a Paraprofessional at Abington Middle School, who has served the District for 25 years
• Ms. Darlene Carr, an Aide at Rydal Elementary School, who has served the District for 10 years
• Ms. Maria Gallagher, an Aide at Abington Middle School, who has served the District for 33 years
• Ms. Mary Ellen Serbun, a Paraprofessional at Abington Middle School, who has served the District for 27 years
• Ms. Elizabeth Shahbazi, an Aide at Abington Middle School, who has served the District for 29 years

• The Board awarded contracts to:
• Crown Castle Fiber LLC for Fiber Optic Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) Services for the period of July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2027
• ePlus Technology, Inc., for replacement firewall equipment, installation, and five years of service
• ePlus Technology, Inc., for replacement core switch equipment, installation, and two years of service
• The Board approved a change order to the contract with ESS Northeast, LLC, to extend the term of the agreement for the substitute service program for three years, at no cost increase from the current bill rate for that three-year period.

The Board approved the submission of the Comprehensive Plan to the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE), which includes the goals and action plans for a three-year period of July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2028, with a required submission to the Pennsylvania Department of Education by March 31, 2025. The Comprehensive Plan can be found on the District website.
