Pumpkins galore!
Thank you to everyone who donated pumpkins to the Land O' Lakes Rescue Petting Farm. Our pumpkins filled the trunk of my van, and the pile at the drop off point was HUGE! Check out the photo below. We will be estimating the total number of pumpkins donated, using the photo.
How many do YOU think are in the picture?
Collaborating to create a Mural
Last week the students learned about painter Georges Seurat and his style, pointilism. We are working together to make a pastel mural of his work "Sunday afternoon on the island of La Grande Jatte". It will be installed in the bus loading area once complete. Next we will be creating pointilism art for the Remembrance Day assembly on Friday at 11:45am.
Treaty Recognition Week
Did you know over 700 students from across the Limestone DSB have self-identified as having First Nations, Metis or Inuit ancestry? Last year, the Province of Ontario designated the first full week in November as Treaties Recognition Week. The purpose of the week is “to recognize the importance of treaties and to bring awareness to the treaty relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people in the province.” This week in class we will be reading books together that highlight Indigenous peoples.
