A BIRD'S EYE VIEW
The latest issue of the district's print newsletter, A Bird's Eye View, should have arrived in all Clinton mailboxes last week.
We hope you enjoyed reading about the great things happening in our schools and what our students are accomplishing inside and outside the classroom.
You can view an online version here.
LET US KNOW WHAT YOU THINK BY COMPLETING THIS SHORT FORM.
AIRMAN DARBY VISITS CMS
Airman First Class Londyn Darby recently visited Mrs. Vetsch's Reader’s Workshop classes to give students another voice for their informational text mini lesson. Students read and learned about The Great Alaskan Earthquake of 1964 and participated in discussions on what it would be like and what they would do in such an extreme natural disaster.
AFC Darby shared her thoughts, skills and experiences of overcoming challenges to prevail and rebuild after facing detrimental circumstances that were out of her control.
Thank you again to WAFB for being an integral part of our Community of Champions!
STUDENT LEADS SUCCESSFUL FOOD DRIVE
Clinton High School junior, Abby Jones, recently led a very successful food drive to benefit students at CHS.
The food drive was part of the 4-H Feeding Missouri program. Along with the members of her church, Abby collected over 300 pounds of non-perishable food items that are now available to students in need at CHS.
Thanks Abby, for thinking of our students!
RECOGNIZING EXCELLENCE
Developing a culture of excellence is a priority in the Clinton School District. When these high levels of achievement and expectations are attained, it's important for us to recognize it.
At the February Board of Education meeting, the district recognized Clinton Middle School Science Olympiad students and sponsors. Clinton Middle School administrators, Jill Chapman and Jake Kenney, also provided the Board of Education with updates regarding their building.
Clinton Middle School recently had two teams of students participate in the Science Olympiad Region IV Division B Tournament. The following students medaled at the tournament (students placing first have the opportunity to compete in the state tournament later this spring).
Trevor Fields - 1st, Wheeled Vehicle; 2nd, Codebusters; 3rd, Microbe Mission; 1st, Wind Power

CHERRY PIES AND CORDUROY JACKETS
Clinton FFA members recently celebrated National FFA Week. The week was filled with fun activities as well as opportunities to thank those in the community who continue to support their program throughout the year.
FFA members kicked-off the week by attending a member church service at First Baptist Church. On Tuesday, 15 first-year FFA members had their hand dyed green to signify that they are "Greenhands", and on Wednesday students enjoyed a catered lunch as well as a workshop put on by Missouri State FFA Officer, Lynn Dyer. Lynn taught members about opportunities in FFA, leadership qualities, and getting out of your comfort zone. Members were up bright and early on Thursday for the annual Businessperson Breakfast. And on Friday, students traveled to Kansas City for the Western Farm Show. That afternoon, several members volunteered their time to assist at an archery tournament. Earlier in the month, students delivered cherry pies to local businesses as a way to say "thank you".
Students are taught by Mrs. Jessie Rager-Miller.

CULINARY CREATIONS
Family and Consumer Science students in Ms. Lawson's Clinton Middle School class recently enjoyed welcoming Chef Chad Hemminger with Taher (the district's food service provider) to their class.
Chef Hemminger visited with students about his career as a chef, how he got his start in the kitchen, and conducted an egg bite lab with the students.

CRUISING AROUND AT HENRY ELEMENTARY
For the fifth year in a row, students at Henry Elementary School had the opportunity to enjoy riding bicycles in PE class.
Many students were successful at using a balance bike, then transitioning to a pedal bike, before the big accomplishment of riding on their own! One second grade class was even able to take advantage of the nice weather and ride outside. After a skill test of riding and obeying street signs, students received their bicycle license!
This fun and educational PE unit was made possible by grants for bikes and helmets from the Clinton Rotary Club, Mid-Day Optimist Club and the Missouri Retired Teachers Foundation.
Students are taught by Gina Johannsen.

PROPOSITION CARDINALS
The Clinton School District has two (2) zero tax levy increase questions on the April 2nd ballot. Neither question will affect the district's current overall tax levy.
- Question 1 is a Zero Tax Levy Increase $14 Million Bond to ENHANCE safety and facilities in the district. If approved on April 2nd, Question 1 would allow the district to address issues such as the building settlement shown in the image below. You can find more information about other projects here.
- Question 2 is a Zero Tax Increase Levy Transfer to SUPPORT, retain, and attract highly-qualified staff. If approved on April 2nd, Question 2 would allow the district to provide wage/salary increases to staff.

Supervisors, including the superintendent, will see your submission. The employee will receive a certificate of gratitude and a token of appreciation that lets everyone know he or she was given a Cardinal Compliment.
