Cedar Grove Friday Flash
December 6, 2024
Dear Cedar Grove Families:
Students had an exciting time this week in the MAEF mobile science lab learning about seeds, soy, corn, DNA, and other science topics. We would like to thank Aleem Boatright, Pushpa Latha, Pranita Shrestha Shakya, and Jessica Lorey for volunteering. We appreciate your help keeping things running smoothly!
MealViewer is the new interactive menu platform for Montgomery County Public Schools breakfast and lunch menus. Students, caregivers, school staff, nurses, and community members will have digital access to menus and meal information. MealViewer will launch on Sunday, December 8, 2024. Portable document format (PDF) menus will remain available through December 2024. Starting January 1, 2025, PDF menus will no longer be available. Please click here to view a video and information (available in multiple languages) about this new platform.
The Damascus High School (DHS) Drama Club will be sponsoring a special holiday community movie night on December 19th. We will be showing The Polar Express in our Damascus HS auditorium at 6:00 p.m., with special holiday arts and crafts starting at 4:30 in the auditorium lobby. There is no admission charge, but donations will happily be accepted on behalf of the Performing Arts program at DHS. All children must be accompanied by adults. If you have any questions, please contact Steve Kachadorian at steven_r_kachadorian@mcpsmd.org
Girl Scout Troop 32075 is collecting new or gently used winter clothes for kids at a local elementary school and for Clarksburg Closet. We’re looking for items such as coats, hats, gloves, scarves, boots, sweatshirts, pants, and long-sleeved shirts to help keep kids warm this winter. If you have anything you would like to donate, please bring it to the collection box in the front entryway at school by Wednesday, December 18th. Thank you for helping us spread some warmth this season!
Have a wonderful weekend!

From Mrs. Hirschhorn, Media Specialist
The December 2024 media monthly has been updated for this coming week! We will embark on our Holiday Makerspace rotations during your student's regularly scheduled media lessons starting Monday. The media monthly also has the link to the grade 5 book club permission form. I've handed out print versions of this permission form to our 5th grade students this week so please ask them about it. These completed book club forms are due December 20, so that I know how many books to borrow from the public library. The maximum number of students who can join is 30. In addition, please consider completing the permission form for our grade 4 and 5 music cafe performances in January and February. This will be our third year producing the music cafe and I'm very excited to see who will participate! Finally, we are also hoping to get many, many compli-mittens for our December interactive bulletin board! Have a wonderful weekend!
