Back to School Edition - August 2023
NOTES FROM YOUR PRINCIPALS
Dear Titus Family,
What an incredible first full week of school we’ve had! We are thrilled to see our students and staff settling into their routines and embracing the new school year with enthusiasm.
Today, we held our very first fire drill of the year. I am so proud of how our entire school community worked together to ensure a swift and orderly exit. It was a great opportunity to practice our safety procedures while enjoying some lovely weather.
As we look ahead, we’re excited for Monday’s Eagles Spirit Day! Let’s show our support for our hometown team by wearing our Eagles gear and cheering them on. Go Birds!
A heartfelt thank you to all who attended our Back to School Nights. It was truly a joy to connect with so many of you and to welcome you into our vibrant and great school. Your involvement is a big part of what makes our school such a special place.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend and looking forward to another fantastic week ahead!
Warm regards.
Your Proud Principal,
Mrs. Helen Sclama Zaleski
Hello Titus Community-
It was so great seeing the turnout we had this week at Back to School Night. Your presence here shows your investment in your child’s education and the school community.
Thank you! It was also so great to see so many of you at Rita’s last night. Thank you for supporting our school.
One of the great things about Titus is that we call our 6th graders our “6th Grade Leaders.” Leaders are held at high expectations, and we do the same for these students in their final year of elementary school. In the first few weeks, they have stepped up to that challenge and we look forward to seeing them continue that as we move throughout the year. Here I am with some of Mr. Michener’s 6th grade leaders.
Have a great weekend

A NIGHT AT RITA'S
Thanks to all who came out to support our Titus Home and School last night at Rita's. We had so many celebrity scoopers serving up our Tituss Family. It was a night to remember!
PSSA Reports
On Friday, September 27th the 2024 PSSA Individual Student Report (ISR) will be sent home in a sealed envelope with your 4th - 6th grade child. The assessment was administered in grades 3-6 in English Language Arts and Mathematics, and grade 4 in science during the 2023-24 school year.
If your child receives a blank report, that is an indication that your child did not take the assessment. Additionally, you will not receive a report if your child was not a student at Elementary School during our last school year.
If you have any questions about this information, please feel free to reach out to me. We value your continuous support of your child's learning.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Helen Sclama Zaleski

ATTENDANCE INFORMATION
Regular School Attendance is Critical for Student Success and Well-Being
As we begin the 2024-25 school year, CBSD wishes to remind families of important information regarding attendance. Pennsylvania's school laws, like Act 138 of 2016 and the updated Act 16, outline what is required for mandatory school attendance and procedures to follow when students are absent or late. Learn more

Information on Title IX
The 2024 Title IX regulations enhance protections against sexual harassment and gender identity discrimination. CBSD is dedicated to ensuring an environment free from discrimination due to race, age, religion, sex, gender identity, disability and any other classification protected by state or federal law. We uphold Title IX, prohibiting sex-based discrimination and harassment. Updated Title IX regulations, approved in the summer of 2024, emphasize stronger protections for students, particularly regarding sexual harassment and gender identity discrimination. Parents and guardians with inquiries should contact their building principal or Alyssa Wright, Title IX coordinator, at 267-893-2060 or alwright@cbsd.org. More information
SAFETY UPDATE
New Safety Protocol Launched with New School Year
All schools in CBSD will be implementing the Standard Response Protocol developed by the "I Love U Guys" Foundation beginning this school year. The SRP provides a framework for handling various emergency situations in schools by emphasizing the importance of consistent, clear communication across all schools and with law enforcement. Learn more by clicking here.
TECH REMINDERS
Payment System Open for 1-to-1 Device Fee for Grades 3-12
The 1-to-1 fee payment system opened on August 14 for families of students in grades 3-12. There is no fee for families of K-2 students as devices for these grades stay at school. All CB students will either receive a device this year or continue to use the device that was issued last year. Even if your child has their own device, we ask that you participate in our program to allow for a consistent learning platform for our students. Read more about the plan, the fee amounts, and next steps here.
CONTEST for students - check it out!
Students: Create a Design for CBSD's Lock Screen for All to See!
During the 2024-2025 school year, CBSD invites students to draw inspiration from CBSD's "Portrait of a Graduate" to create an original design to display on the lock screens of district laptops and ClearTouch panels. The winning artwork will be featured on CBSD screens each month for all students, faculty and staff to see! The winning student artist will also receive a prize. Students can submit their designs based on each month's Portrait of a Graduate theme. Submissions are due on the 20th of each month. More details and how to submit.

VOLUNTEERS
DON'T FORGET CLEARANCES ...
Titus will expect all potential volunteers to complete their paperwork for clearances prior to assuming any volunteer/chaperone role within the school. This will ensure we are in line with district and state expectations.
Who Needs Clearances: An individual who is responsible for the child's welfare or has direct contact with children. Pennsylvania law requires all persons having direct contact with school children to obtain background checks and clearances. In the best interest of the safety and security of our students, Central Bucks School District required the submission of these clearances prior to volunteering during the school year. Approved volunteers are given an identification card to be presented at the school (along with your photo ID, such as a driver's license) when volunteering. Please allow 7-10 days after you have submitted your online application for receipt of the ID card.
Additional information and steps on how to complete your clearances can be found on our district website by clicking here.
TITUS SCHOOL DAY
SCHOOL HOURS REMINDER
We are an "A" or early school, and our hours are 8:35 AM to 3:15 PM.
The morning kindergarten session hours are 8:35 AM to 11:10 AM.
The afternoon kindergarten session will run from 12:40 PM to 3:15PM.
START OF THE SCHOOL DAY ...
Please be aware that the school day begins at 8:35 AM in your child(ren)'s classroom(s). If you are a car rider in the morning, it is recommended that children are dropped off no later than 8:30 AM in order to get to their classrooms for the start of the school day at 8:35 AM. If a student arrives in their classroom beyond 8:35 AM, they are considered tardy. Parents will need to come into the building to sign their child in if they arrive after 8:35 AM.
The adults supervising the car-rider drop-off line will be on duty until 8:32 AM. Students dropped off after 8:32 AM will more than likely not be able to make it to their classrooms on time for the start of the school day at 8:35 AM. Also, for safety reasons, students arriving to school prior to 8:15 AM, need to be supervised by their parent/caregiver. We ask that all students wait with their family member in the drop off line until 8:15 AM.
WALKERS & BIKE RIDERS
Walkers coming from Oakfield, Chatfield and streets to our south will cross at the crosswalk by the police station and enter through the bus loop entrance. Walkers and bicyclists from north and west of the school will cross Barness at the end of the bicycle path at the crosswalk and will proceed on the school side of Lower Barness, entering the school through the cafeteria entrance. The sidewalk comes straight back to the cafeteria entrance so that students can remain removed from the bus loop entirely. Bicycle racks are available adjacent to that entrance.
All bicyclists must wear safety helmets. Please also encourage your child(ren) to stay on the sidewalk while walking and riding for safety reasons especially due to car and bus traffic.
At the end of the day, walkers and bicyclists will be dismissed first so that they can exit the building in advance of bus and vehicular traffic. To ensure that classroom teachers have a complete list, we ask that you advise your teacher now if your child is going to be a walker at any time during the year so that their name will be included on the list.
CAR RIDERS
DROP OFF AND PICK UP PROCEDURES
Beginning on the first day of school, September 3rd, parents are asked to enter the Titus parking lot and stay to the right, proceeding to the back of the parking lot near the playground and following the yellow lines around to the Titus staff member who will help your child(ren) in and out of the car. This procedure will be used for both pick-up and drop-off. No students will enter through the main doors for drop-off or pick-up.
For AM drop off, all students should remain in their car in the car line until a staff member is present at 8:15AM to unload students from their vehicles. In the afternoon, the back gate will be opened at 3PM for afternoon car rider pick up. Please do not line up in our parking lot prior to 3pm as this creates a backup onto 611 and in our lot.
Each family will receive a "pick-up placard" on the first day of school that can be prominently displayed in their car window for the Titus staff members to see which student(s) are being picked up in the afternoon. Your child(ren)'s last name will be placed in the middle of the placard. It is suggested that you cover your placard with contact paper or a clear plastic sleeve so that it will last the school year.
Please bear with us on the first week of school as it may take a little bit longer to adjust to the drop-off and pick-up procedures. Many Titus staff members will be present at these times during the first week to help direct you through the loop. Please take a look at the picture below for a visual of the drop-off and pick-up loop.
I thank you in advance for your cooperation and support.
