Monday Message #10

Each week seems to be bringing new surprises! Thank you all for showing up on Thursday and working through the unknowns as we ended the week. This week will be another busy one and I will be out for a lot of it due to trainings and the Jewish holiday. I am most looking forward to Wednesday where we get to celebrate Rachel Wilkinson and Lisa Keithly at the district level for all their greatness!!!

PBIS update! This October 10th is the cutoff for PBIS points. Children need 160 points. The celebration will be “Extra Fun- Extra Play!” Kids will have 15 minutes of extra time.

October 16 PD Day: Update

There is now county ELA training on 10/16 (see details below). Gen Ed, SEC, EIP, and ESOL teachers will register in Atlas for the Zone 4 training from 12:00-2:00. Some staff will be in LETRS that morning from 8:30-11:30. For those not in LETRS, there will be a one-hour session in the morning from 9:00-10:00 about small group best practices (presenters, the time changed since I emailed you). Grade chairs - PLC meetings should be scheduled around professional development sessions. Please communicate the time to your admin member.

Tashana will send out LETRS details as the date gets closer. If you need assistance registering in Atlas, please reach out to me.

Extended Learning is seeking teachers to support our Spalding Tigers!

The county provides a rate of $31 per hour, including a paid planning period, meaning you'll earn 1.5 hours each session.

Extended Learning takes place two days a week, on Mondays and Wednesdays, from 2:30 to 3:30 PM.

Our primary focus is our "bubble" students—those students between the 30th-50th%.

If you are interested in teaching extended learning, please feel free to let Jennifer or Tashana know. We are hoping to start the program by the end of the month.

Each week we will recognize a PLC of the week. Admin sits in on each grade level, so it is highlighting those that are using best practices and being collaborative.

Shout to our 2nd grade PLC!!! This team shared out strategies across content with each other this week and then had an open mind and attitude at the curriculum meeting. Way to go!

The expectation is that a parent-teacher conference is held for every student by the end of October. At our October 2nd we will have some training about communicating with our non-English speaking families. You can also reach out to Jeanne Shivers and she will help to set up a translator.
