Dear Colonial Park Families -

I would like to thank our PTO and Colonial Park community for your generosity during Staff Appreciation Week. The lunch on Friday was delicious, and the creativity of Tiffany Dennen shined through every day with each of our surprises. We are truly grateful to work with your children everyday and for your continued support.

Last week, our second graders were hands-on scientists at Einstein's Workshop, and our third graders had a blast on their Duck Tour field trip in Boston. This week, our kindergarteners will be enjoying a trip to the North Shore Children's Museum on Tuesday, and on Thursday, our fourth graders are heading to the Patriots Hall of Fame. What a fun time of year!

On Tuesday, May 21, Colonial Park will be participating in an Evacuation Drill. With the assistance of the Stoneham Fire Department and Stoneham Police Department, all students and staff will follow our evacuation route (Citation to Fieldstone to Boxwood) at approximately 1:15pm. We will not be entering the high school, and once we arrive at Boxwood, we will return back to Colonial Park. In the event of rain, our drill will take place on Tuesday, May 28.

As I mentioned last week, I am including a list of the important events that will occur before the end of the school year at the end of this newsletter. More information will follow regarding specific events and activities, and I will add new events as they come up.

Our third and fourth grade students will be participating in the Math MCAS during this upcoming week. Please make sure your child gets a good night's sleep and packs an extra snack to be enjoyed in the morning before testing begins. Also, please be sure your child is on time to school.

The dates are:

• Grade 4 - Monday, May 13 and Wednesday, May 15

• Grade 3 - Tuesday, May 14 and Thursday, May 16

*Ice Cream Social and Spring Art Show! - Save the date! The Ice Cream Social and Spring Art Show will be held on Thursday, May 16, from 6-7:30 pm. This event is free for all of our CP students and families. We encourage you to check out displayed art work and to enjoy an ice cream treat, activities and games with your CP friends!

Volunteers are needed for this event! We need help with set up, clean up, and help serving ice cream. Please use this link to sign up.

*PTO Meeting and Elections - Our last PTO meeting of the 2023-2024 academic year will be next Tuesday, May 14 at 7 pm. You are encouraged to join in person in the STE room at Colonial Park or virtually using this link: https://meet.google.com/sby-hngq-mij.

During this meeting, we will vote on our two co-presidents for the 2024-2025 school year. Christina Turolski and Abby Shaw are on the ballot.

We will provide updates on end of year activities and a recap on this school year. All are welcome to attend!

Colonial Park’s Moving On Committee is selling Dave and Busters power cards! For every $20 power card sold, $10 will be returned to the PTO to fund 4th grade moving on activities including their party, t-shirts, memory books, and gift to the school. This is only available until May 12th!

You can have the power cards sent home with your student or you can pick it up on Friday May 17th from 4pm-6pm.
