TWIB Notes: 9/7-9/20

We have a required rehearsal in Eagle Stadium on Monday from 5pm-7pm. We will use this time to work with our drill writer and focus on performance elements in Eagle Stadium. We will meet and dismiss at Eagle Stadium. The band hall will be open after school and after rehearsal so students can access their locker. Some notes on rehearsal:

• Percussion & Prop Students may have different instructions for the beginning of rehearsal to move equipment. More information from your director at morning rehearsal and through CutTime.
• Plan on getting your instrument/equipment from AHS by 4:30pm so you can get to Eagle Stadium on time.
• CLICK THE TRAFFIC FLOW MAP BELOW. Do not drop off or park in front of the field house.
• If the field is clear, EVERYONE should head into Eagle Stadium for the beginning of practice prior to 5pm.
• If football is practicing, follow the winds warm-up as stated on the map below prior to 5pm.

While we have Fall break off from morning rehearsals, we have two required events during Fall Break beginning on Friday, October 18. These events have been on the band calendar since last Spring and were communicated at the Spring and Summer incoming freshman band meetings.

• Rehearsal: 2:30-4:30pm
• Plano West Away Game: 4:30-11:00pm
• SATURDAY, OCTOBER 19
• Region 25 UIL Marching Contest
• 10:00am Call Time

All students were subject to a UIL grade check last Friday, 10/4. Ineligible students will be required to participate in all Fall break events and regain eligibility on 11/1 (participation beginning on 11/8). Full Band UIL grade check will be on 12/20. See the details below on what the ineligible performance schedule.

Ineligible students will have the following performance schedule:

• Required Participation (ineligible students can participate in activities during Fall Break)
• 10/11: Princeton Home Game (help with props)
• 10/18: Rehearsal & Plano West Away Game (help with props)
• 10/19: Region 25 UIL (help with props)
• Unable to Participate
• 10/25: Boo Bowl Game vs. Prosper
• 11/1: McKinney Boyd Away Game
• 11/2: UIL Area Contest
• 11/7: Plano East Home Game

From the 2024-2025 Band Handbook:

"The Allen Band Staff will enforce all TEA eligibility rules and regulations. Students who are ineligible will continue to rehearse during their band class, before and after school, and participate in curricular performances to earn their band grade. Ineligible students may not travel with the band or participate in extracurricular performances. Students should always check on an event if there is a question of their participation. Be advised that excessive absences from school may also result in a student being declared ineligible. CLICK HERE for the 2024-2025 Eligibility Calendar."

The Band Council has set up tutoring program for students seeking extra help in their academic classes. The link to the tutoring form below is not for students signing up for Band private lessons, but for classes outside of Band. Upperclassmen will work with students to understand their class’s content with the intended outcome of increased academic achievment. Students should be signed into their student accounts to access the form.

If you have any obligations from fees or past charges, please make those payments. Band staff will begin calling parents of students that have any obligations this week. Please note that if sales tax was not added to the fees, students have been charged the sales tax as an obligation. Students will not be able to participate in games if payments have not been made.

According to the 2024-2025 Band Handbook:

"Students with outstanding balance for program fees will not be allowed to participate in program activities unless there is a payment plan in place with the program director. Lack of participation will lead to removal from the program at the beginning of the next grading period."

Payments can be submitted through the following ways:

• Drop a check or cash in the AHS Band safe. (Checks made payable to Allen ISD, driver's license # in the memo)
• Mail a payment to: Allen High School Band; 300 Rivercrest Blvd, Allen, TX 75002 (attn: Susan Fulk)
• Credit Card or Debit Card payment through SchoolPay - link below (a fee will be included in the final payment)
